How well insulated are the front fish boxes in the 2660 cc? With my old boat I used a large Reliable kill bag. That would hold two 2 gallon ice blocks for approximately 2 days in summer temps. Wondering how the fish boxes compare to that? Thanks

X2 You will need to fill with as much ice as possible to have enough to last all day.

In the heat of summer I think I put about 100 lbs of ice in just one side. It lasts fine, not that there would be enough left for a second day.

Put the plug in, make a slurry w/saltwater and it will keep your fish COLD all day until you get back to the dock. Just don't expect ice to last a couple of days, it's good enough for a day's worth of fishing. Like with a large cooler, the key is to put enough ice in it cool down the locker. For local trips in the bay, heck I only put about 40lb bag in and it's enough to get me through the day with the few fish I catch.

Not a terrible project to have spray insulation added, huge difference with it. It’s the bottom of the boxes that makes the biggest difference, I had done by local spray insulation company, one of the best improvements I have done. Same as others before take 100-200 out, we bumed ice off another boat on one trip it melted so fast, now I take 60-80 lbs have plenty left over.
I think during the factory build if the put to much on bottoms of fish boxes they couldn’t get Hull pieces together, so they used very little if any where you need it most around bottom of the boxes.

Thanks guys! I’ll probably stick with my kill bag, maybe even fit it into the box.

The loose spray insulation like we put in attics or liquid spray?

Spray on foam. If you take the hatch right in front of console off you can slide your head into bilge , look up at bottoms of boxes.

I thought Of doing it Then I started using block ice.with a bag or two of ice, it lasts the day
Now we mostly use a cooler. Unless it’s a “big” Offshore trip then it’s back to Ice blocks.

Hey Captains ~
I was going through Ice like ICE ICE ICE BABY!! About $40-45 a trip.6-7 40lbs bags at a time. So, then I came up with an idea of getting a medium sized box freezer($250) and freeze cases of bottled water (3 for $10). I could fit and freeze about 4 1/2 cases of separated bottles at once. I found that I could load my coolers and then on load at the boat and leave coolers behind. I had a 2860 that I would fill each in floor fish box with about 2 cases of frozen bottles. What I found was at the end of the day I could wash them off and reuse them. I would lose a bottle or 2 from time to time due to cracking but in the long haul, I know I saved hundreds of dollars over the 3 years that I did this. I actually sold the freezer and the frozen bottles with my 2860 3 years ago.
Ingenuity at it's best!!

I just lined the lids of my floor boxes with neoprene foam, similar to how the new boats come. Hoping it will help keep ice a bit.
