Looking for some thoughts/opinions on this options for the boat. I have a 275DC and fish mostly inshore/near shore. I have been contemplating this accessory for some time and just yesterday I was 7 miles out with my daughter and heard thunder about two miles or so away. We just go there and had a 19" black seabass on the first drift. Needless to say I was ready to go in immediately but my buddy boat said his system was telling him that I was fine and to stay. He was right. Anyone have thoughts on this accessory and has anyone installed one? Maybe give me some pointers?? I know the good news is that it will replace my current XM Antenna so I can use that mounting hole and that wire to snake the new one!

I want to get one, the benefits are awesome eg sst charts, lightening strikes, storm tracking etc. If you spend anytime offshore it seems invaluable.
I've just had other stuff I to do first, but with everything else pretty much done i am going to look into this next year.
In the interim if I am within cell range, I rely on the app My Radar. It does an excellent job of helping me keep an eye on the sky.

Ive got XM weather for my Garmin and its awesome for offshore and to be honest has saved my but a few times in the bay as well. Sends out aMarine Weather alerts to clue you in something my be coming, and overlays on your charplotter to be constantly in your face
I have an older model Garmin that I’m hesitating to replace only bc of the insane amount of money Garmin and Simrad now want for the Sirius XM weather antennas ~$700 vs. $100s several years ago...

I can say without a doubt the xm weather is worth it. I have it on our boat and several other boats that I have had in the past. It has saved our asses a bunch of times!

I have that system installed on my boat with the coastal package. Very few differences with the Offshore package, basically the forecasts, and $30 monthly savings. Get the GXM53, I just moved from the 52, better reception. You wont be disappointed. Last Thursday was fishing with some friends and got some thunderstorms around showing all the time in my 7610, so we were aware of the location and movement all the time.
The cable for the GXM 53 is not compatible with the 52, and I don't know the other brands but I will think it wont.
