Entering season 3 on a 2017 275dc I am starting to experience upkeep due to what I feel are manufacturing shortcomings. I noticed when I first got the boat the sealant used to bed fittings and seal components like the helm console and rod holder insert was a silicone type sealer. Personally not a fan of this type of sealer both in marine and home use. The problem moisture gets between the sealer and the surface being sealed and then mildews turning black. Anyone have a good way of cleaning short of pulling out the sealer and using something better like life caulk. Anyone else having this dilemma? Jim

Nothing you can do. It's just part of the upkeep.
You can try putting some bleach on it, but it's a temporary fix
Remove and use 3M 4000 uv Fast Cure
Some guys, even manufacturers, have switched to black.

All boat manufacturers have this problem. I helped my buddy with a pretty new yellowfin recaulk several areas over the winter.

All my hardware was sealed with that foam tape stuff, which actually held up pretty well considering. Boat is a 2006 and 4 of 6 cleats still original installation. Though 3 of them really need to come out and be re-bedded as evidenced by rust bleed. I made mistake of using silicone once. I’ll save you the trouble, silicone has no place on a boat. It molds terribly.
