5212 unit, sitting at my dock I try to plot a trip just to see how the unit will route my trip. But the unit keeps telling me it cannot plot a course because there isn't enough water depth. I have my keel set for 2 feet of water. There's over 10 feet of water out of the river to open water. What am I doing wrong. once I get out of the river and into Open Water everything is fine makes no sense to me.

What are the settings in the Garmin Glen? There is a menu where you plug in you draft etc and the Garmin will determine the route based on those settings.
Do you have a Blurcart Vision G2 card installed in the machine? That card gives you the route guidance feature.

I'm not sure about your software and equipment, but on mine the warnings about using it says the Auto-Guidance feature is based on chart information and you need to make sure to avoid obstacles. Based on that, I guess it doesn't care what your depth sounder says, only the chart you are using.

No I didn't but next time at the boat I'll play more. I need to figure this out if I'm at another port and I need to run a course out and it won't that's an issue.

Maybe sitting at my club there's just to many obstacles for the auto guidance to function.
