Fishnfool - make sure you bring your mask, NC just went full retard.
Not moving forward to phase 3. Delaying another 3 weeks then reevaluate. Everyone has to wear masks now.
If you don’t hear from me for a while, I’ve been arrested for not wearing a mask.

What does that mean everyone has to wear a mask, has that changed?

From a few hours ago: North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has announced that residents are now required to wear face masks in public and the state’s Phase 2 will continue for three more weeks as coronavirus cases continue to rise at an alarming rate.

Of course if you compare the number of tests per day curve to the number of cases per day curve, they are the same. Shocking. Test more, find more cases. I’m sure all the protesters yelling in people’s faces didn’t have anything to do with it. covid19.ncdhhs.gov/dashboard

Well, here is the good news. Chickens**t governor didn’t go all in. He did not give law enforcement the authority to cite individuals for not wearing a mask.
He did however give them the authority to cite businesses whose employees and customers don’t wear masks. And if the business says you can’t come in or asks you to leave because you are not masked, they can then call the cops and prosecute under trespassing laws.
So you’re good on the beach. Better bring a mask to the bait shop though, because some things are worth breaking down and masking up for. 😷

You guys may not realize it, but you're lucky. Wife in I in our 70s and my wife has stage 4 kidney failure due to a lifetime of high blood pressure. I get my groceries delivered to avoid risk at the store (Yes, it gets expensive). My kids also bring stuff to the house if we need something. My grandkids are panicked we'll get sick and die (okay, kids always panic).
Masks may not be an answer, but looking at where they're in use regularly, you can see the impact the masks have on lowering the spread of the disease. It's not a good answer to COVID, but possibly the best we have at the time to limit new infections. I wear one regularly outside of the house. Friday I plan to go out and fish, and for my wife more than me I plan to wear a mask at the dock. It would devastate me to survive COVID, but have her die because I gave it to her.
I realize for those younger than me, masks are an inconvenience. Sorry. When I was younger I'd probably feel the same. But, God willing we all grow older and one day, you may be in my position and hope those younger than you give a damn.

Hooked up, I get it, I really do. My parents are mid-70’s. I work for an airline, after the 2 trips I’ve actually worked since beginning of April, I stayed clear of them. In fact the whole family was pretty much in self quarantine because of my risk of exposure. But we’ve learned more since then. And there is a level of quality of life that I’m no longer willing to deal with. I’m not going to keep my kids locked down all summer. I’m not going to wear a mask in public. Those that are concerned, need to do exactly what you are doing. The rest of us need to get back to work, back to school, and if we get sick, good. We need to build that herd immunity while conrinuing to protect the most vulnerable. The masks are a joke. Just watch how people wear them. All their face touching, nose picking, non hand washing idiots. Now are there going to be times I have to mask up? Yup. Got to buy food. Airline has mandated that if I ever get back to work I’ll have to mask up through the end of the year. Not going to get fired over it. Anyway, good luck to all. Go fish, it’s good for the soul.

That makes more sense, also read it is recommended that you only need a mask outside if you're within 6 feet of other people.
We were expecting to go into stores and restaurants, that's what we're doing here, I freaked when I first read your post but when we looked into the details and that it's not an enforceable offense in public so the majority of the time while we're out on bikes, golf cart on the dock etc no mask required.

You two and my much older Mom are the folks I worry about.

Thanks guys. We plan to muddle through, but this has really, really changed the summer we had planned, as I suspect it has for just about everyone. Masks aren't fun except at Halloween, and I don't like them any more than you, but whatever we can do to limit the spread is good. That herd immunity is what Sweden had planned and they are exceeding U.S. numbers per million of population sick and dead and their neighbors have closed their borders to Swedes.
I want to head out for tuna, but going offshore 80-100 miles by myself isn't very smart and my tuna buddies are all back to work and have teenagers. So, for now, it's inshore fishing. Good news is my son-in-law has supplied us with tuna twice so far as his trips have been very productive and nothing tastes quite as good a fresh caught tuna.
I hope everyone stays well and enjoys a safe summer. Living just a few miles from NC, I'm amazed our numbers are still going down while NCs are rising so fast. Guess the warm, humid weather isn't having the effect we were hoping for.

Just 6.3% of the state's total population has tested positive with +/-893 hospitalizations. This of course doesnt take into account the false positives - 20 to 30%. My sons friends brother tested positive, got a retest and then tested negative.
