Just purchased a '99 Sailfish and I have a garden hose connection that I don't know what it's for. It's on the starboard side in the rear and goes into the side of the jump seat where the two batteries are. It has a fitting for a garden hose and has a shut off. Inside that battery compartment there's about a 3/4" rubber hose that seems to go under the floor. The Owners manual is so incredibly generic, it says nothing about this connection, but it may not be original to the boat. Any help would be appreciated. I hope I have described this well enough for someone to be able to help. Fantastic boat by the way.

Not sure but I would think it is your salt water washdown connection.

Yup, sounds like raw water wash down. Depending on model, might work off of the livewell pump, just gotta turn the hose off in the well to redirect the water

Thanks guys. Like I said in my intro, I'm used to smaller 15-16' Cobia's and Bonito's, so this boat is quite "fancier" than what I'm used to. I appreciate all the help here.

I know I posted a week ago, but I've been busy and just getting back to this. The fitting I'm describing is the male connection, so it does seem to be a washdown attachment for using sea water. So, I would hood up a hose and then what? Sorry, but I have no idea what I have here. It may be a feature that I would never use, but I'd just like to know what it is and how to operate it. I've been struggling with electrical issues and have had no power to the ignition switch or fuse panel. Good voltage from both batteries, but now voltage up front. I ran a wire directly from one of the batteries to the ignition switch and fuse panel and now everything works correctly. No idea where there might be a fuse or something else wrong, so I just ran a wire myself. Hate to make this so long, but both batteries have strong 12V, but the motor only turns over when turned to battery 2. Do these battery selector switches go bad sometimes? Thanks for whatever advice you can give.

Open the valve with garden hose attached, you get raw water. Those switches can certainly go bad. You should be able to test continuity at the switch with a multimeter. As for running in both, I've heard that you aren't supposed to do that, but I don't know how bad it is or what it could cause.
