Installing the Simrad electronics took about 1/2 day including cutting the console for the AP44. However, installing the hydro connections took 1/2 day to determine I didn't have the right fittings, wait a day for Uflex and other businesses to open, 1/2 day to locate and purchase the connectors, then 1/2 day to install and bleed the lines.
The 245DC doesn't have room on the back of the steering pump to install a T fitting for the AP. So, I used the deck plate I installed for the antenna and pulled out the 5/16 Uflex hose. This hose is nothing like the 3/8 SeaStar hose. It has an inner hose covered by nylon strengthening and then a black covering. It is very flexible. None of my fittings worked, so I waited until Monday and called Uflex. They don't sell installable fittings for their hose except in Italy. They wanted to sell me 4 hoses. I found something similar to the installable fitting Uflex doesn't sell in the US to one made by Parker. I went to my first Parker hydro shop and they didn't have what I needed. Then traveled to a second Parker hose shop and they had the fittings to go from 5/16 to 3/8 for marine use! Cost a few $$s, but I wanted the AP installed.
Pictures show the T with the AP 3/8s on top, steering pump and engine 5/16s connection. After making sure they didn't leak I started my bleeding process, yes, both bleeding the lines, and cutting my hands up and bleeding. I then put some D foam around the T's to make sure they didn't damage anything, then placed them in the bilge and made sure the lines were not kinked.
It's working fine. Just need to get it NEMA 2000 connected to the Garmin chartplotter so it can pickup boat speed to use in determining how fast to turn. It's defaulted to high speed, so it turns slowly right now, but it keeps on course. I'll get the NEMA straightened out on the next trip
