With limited space for tackle boxes and coolers on board I decided to look for some type of tackle station under my leaning post. Finding out they can get really expensive I decided to build my own. Here is what I did. Attachment DeletedI built it with the intention of using the left side to put a soft side cooler in it to keep drinks and snacks in but found that I could not find one that would fit that would be a suitable size. After thinking it through I decided to just make that compartment a cooler itself. I closed off the front and doubled up the inside for insulation, added the slide top and installed a drain. Turns out the cooler works better than my rotomolded cooler I was using. I used PVC board to build it. Every joint was glued with PVC glue and stainless steel screws. The cooler compartment was sealed with 5200 on the inside. After one year of use all has been well. No more coolers and tackle boxes to deal with.

So nice when a plan comes together. Great idea done your way at a fraction of the cost of buying. Very nice. I did something with mine for tackle storage a few years ago now I carry so much it's confusing.

It does look really good. And, I agree with finatic it gets confusing. I have been trying to figure out a method for locating the lure I want and with so many choices I always end up looking through 4 or 5 boxes before I find what I want. With a 245DC I have tackle in boxes in the 'galley' and tackle boxes in the center storage. The ones I use most of the time are remembered locations, but when I want that blue green with a strand of chartreuse ballyhoo skirt, I end up searching everywhere. I guess the only solution is to post pictures for each box on the box.
Anyway, your solution looks great and I like the ingenuity.
