Hello All,
I am not new to boating or boats, but I am getting ready make final arrangements to purchase a 2021 325DC. I am a center console guy, but the lure of the DC has me stoked. My wife approves as well. I was wondering if anyone here can comment on anything I should request from the dealer or look out for with my purchase. I just want to cross my t's and dot my i's. Also, my purchase is contingent on a Sea Trial as soon as the weather breaks a little here in NJ. I have heard many good things about the ride and seaworthy-ness of the boats, any input would be awesome. I fish offshore a lot and use it in the river and bay with my family as well, so I am hoping this is a solid purchase. Thank you again!!!

Hey that's awesome, congratulations. There's one other member that has one, but he's not around much.
A survey before you write the check is always advised, even on new and esp with a boat that has a lot of doodads. Surveyor will go through the boat and inspect and test all systems to ensure proper operation. They will give you a list of what needs fixed/addressed and you give it to the dealer and condition final payment on the dealer/manufacturer addresssing the items before you will make payment, not after. It will make for a happier initial boating experience and at the price you're paying it is a few hundred bucks that will go a long way.

I honestly wan not even thinking about a survey, because its brand new, glad you mentioned it. i have owned many boats, most of them new and never got a survey on them, because they were new. Makes sense, as I have had minor issues with a few of them. Little stuff, but it would have saved a bunch of phone calls and emails...LOL

Welcome to the Sailfish Forum and congratulations on the new ride. I saw a similar boat at this year’s boat show and they are impressive. Please post some pics of your new ride and I’m sure you’ll be impressed with your sea trial.

I have read/heard of my share of stories of folks buying new boats, SF included and having both minor irritating problems (plumbing, electrical etc) to more significant issues eg sub standard component installation to structural. There is a more recent and very long thread on another popular boating forum by a new owner of a new 30'+ Boston Whaler express and his nightmare of dealing with the factory to try and get the many issues resolved. I'd say major issues are few and far between today but even minor issues and the inconvenience of trying to get your boat back to your dealer to address them under warranty can take a lot of the fun out of first year of ownership. Remember boats are all handmade, not by robots so it is possible consistency of workmanship can vary widely from one boat to another depending on who was working on your boat. Good luck!

Congrats on your new purchase. I switched from a 19 CC to a 245 DC 3 years ago, what I give up in fishability I more than make for in family use/comfort. I get my wife and daughter out a lot more than I used to, biggest drawback is casting is a bit more difficult. I'm also in NJ, Seaside Park, where are you located? I would def. invest in a survey, I wish I had doen it before I closed on mine, probably would have saved on a bunch of minor headaches.

Welcome aboard and I hope you enjoy your dual console as much as we have ours (albeit smaller). Today's dual consoles let you have a family boat and fishing boat with few compromises. Good luck with the survey.

I had the survey put into the dealer agreement this morning. I am in Ocean City area. I come out of GE (Great Egg) Inlet, from Somers Point. Usually fish anywhere from the AC reef to the Cigar to the Spencer and Wilmington Canyons. Just depends on where we are chasing them.
