Hi guys
I have read a few opinions on this boat, mostly good. I am close to buying a 2015 with 300 Verados, can anyone offer any additional input? I would be using the boat for family river tubing and want to take 60-90 miles offshore in NJ. I would do all kinds of fishing, wreck-troll- chunk. Someone stated it was wet , unstable? How compared to other more deep v hull? Possible looking going older contender or similar as well. Thanks !
Chris

Wet,, unstable any center console will fall into that category, when sea and wind conditions are not favorable. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, I understand your reasoning and agree and CC will be wetter compared to closed boat. But I am asking if anyone with this boat or experience on this boat has an info as to its nature out in decent seas compared to other offshore CC rides.

I responded to you on THT. But to add, we mainly bottom fish in the GOM so stability at drift is pretty important to me...I think it’s fine, but haven’t been on many other boats in this size to compare. Also, it’s way more family friendly than an older contender...90% of the time my wife is along and she really likes the big console to change, storage etc. My biggest complaint is the factory wiring is meh, .functional, but a messy install. Since I knew I was keeping this for awhile, I had my wiring cleaned up by a pro and while some $$, I’m glad I did it.

I will say this I run my 2360 sometimes as much as 200 miles a day offshore always felt safe in any conditions thrown at me to date and I'm sure the 29 would perform even better.

I got your PM on THT, sorry for delay, I've been sick.
I'm sure Richard who has this boat too will chime in, but I believe the 28 hull is one of their best hulls. It has a different strake design than my boat which helps to make it a drier ride. These boats ride really nice so you wont feel too beat up after a long ride offshore.

I have been on just about every brand boat on the water and the 290 or 2860 (same boat) is as good of riding boat out there with the exception of a yellowfin. It rides and is as dry as a contender. I have run charters bottom fishing in some pretty snotty conditions with mine and it performs well. I fish on days where a lot of people stay at the docks. It will be me and a couple 36 footers out. It can be wet in the right seas but do can all the others.

WOW!!! That wiring is phenomenal! Thanks! Boat-tronics in Jax did the work. I was planning on a whole rewire but they said the wiring itself was in solid shape, just the connections and organization was crap...so they re-organized and re-terminated everything. I also had a large hatch made by boat outfitters to access the back of the console vs the two oem smaller ones...again, not cheap but so nice to have. Knowing the electrical is solid (compared to my old boats) really does give great peace of mind. But anyway, back to OP...buy the 290!

I purchased a used 290cc a few months ago. The layout of the boat is fantastic and flows well. It is a very stable boat at drift when bottom fishing and the ride is very comfortable. As others have stated, it is not a wet boat but in the right conditions any center console will be wet. This can be alleviated with curtains/wings on the rough days. One of the best things about this boat is being able fly when sea conditions allow. Another positive is the amount of fishing room behind captain chairs/livewell.
You will easily be able to take this boat 90 miles offshore and can fish very comfortably with 6 guys. Your family will also be very comfortable on this boat when booze cruising or pulling a tube. Overall, the 290cc is a very solid boat...you will not be disappointed if you decide to purchase one.
