Glen, I must have misread one of your posts, I thought you said it couldn't be rebuilt. That's great news if you can get it repaired, sorry for the misdirection. At least outtadblue will give you better directions. Teamruby I'm not giving any direction on a windless. I've never seen one.

Man, I should have written that one better. I should have said map directions. I was making another attempt to cajole fin into coming down to clean your boat while you're on the no-boating list.

I'm scared to go look at the boat. I bet it had an inch of dust on it. I may need Glen to come help clean it.

I know what you mean, while you're laid-up, so is the boat. By the time you're able to get back to the boat it's going to need its own rehab just to get it ready to hit the fishing grounds. On the other hand it might be a labor of love just to step back on the deck just to give it a once over and a bath before heading offshore.
Do you have to winterize where you are or can you fish all throughout the year?

I could fish all year except the wind is horrible December through January. I usually bring it to my house for wax and projects after thanksgiving. I try to have it ready to go by mid February. That's when the big tuna show up in close.

Only been to Hattiesburg in the summer (years back) so I don't know much about your winter. Winds do pick up here about the same time, but after years of striper fishing in 3 foot waves and 15-20 knot winds I got used to it. Now, we don't have the abundant striper any more, and like you I work on the boat in winter, but then I take it out just to ride around and exercise lures in case the striper come back.
Sure wish our tuna was here in February! Tuna catch here in Virginia Beach is 70 miles offshore and we have to wait for the gulf stream pattern to move the warmth to the continental shelf before we'll see any. Good news is we also get a fall bite as the tuna move back down.

We have tuna year around but they move in close during the winter. When I say close, I mean 70 miles. The rest of the year, it's 100-120. They move up on the shelf in 200-300 feet to feed starting in October and stay until March. Driving 70 miles in a choppy head sea is no fun during the winter. You have to pick your days. Some buddies that fish with me were mad because I wouldn't take them back in February. I told them when the seas went down, we would go, but they got anxious and chartered a 42 Freeman out of Venice. They got beat to hell and back and didn't catch anything. I told them 6-8 footers was no fun in any boat.

It don't matter I send these posts all over the place Soup To Nuts. I'll break it up again how about this my anchor and nav lights still aren't working properly unbelievable I think I've tried every way possible to switch that diode around and still no luck so I'm thinking maybe the diode is bad. The light saga continues so you guys can keep breaking my balls. Nothing better than throwing yourself under the bus LOL

Glen, can you post some pictures of the back of the switch like sfgreg did? The resolution in his photos was really good. You might be right though, the diode could be bad, just need to test it.
Now might be a good time to mention this, we just had a Harbor Freight Salvage open up here, it's a couple of miles from the house. They have been bombarding me with ads. One of the free giveaway items with any purchase is a Cen Tech VOM. I got one years ago thinking it was a good cheap disposable meter just to carry in the tool box. It's been a really good little meter for me and it does have a diode tester on it.

I can get some pictures next time I go I just went to Harbor Freight last night and bought some drill bits some other s*** I had one of them test lights I blow it up you know me and wiring I couldn't get the thing to work right I got frustrated with it and smashed it into little pieces pretty easy to do since I got it for free. I was thinking because I got it for free it was a POS but more than likely it was me.

Test light, normally you're using to confirm you have voltage in the circuit you're testing. So you're either connecting the alligator clip to a ground when looking for 12V plus or if on rare occasion you're looking to see if you have ground you're connecting the alligator clip to a plus 12V source and touching points that you know should be a ground looking for one that doesn't make the test light turn on. If you blow out the bulb then chances are you used the test light as a quick way to complete a circuit (it's wired in series in this case) and if the current load is much larger than an amp the bulb is going to flash just like you would see when a fuse blows. On my test light the bulb can be replaced, but I've seen some that you can't. The good thing is they're so cheap to replace.
You might have something similar to what sfgreg has going on. I hope his NAV/ANC light is working correctly now.

I probably did blow the bulb on it I'm so disgusted with this whole thing if I'm out at night I'll slap some black tape over bow lights if I have to. Never had such a simple project turn into such a nightmare like this one.
