So I'm on an LED conversion kick. I've replaced the spreader and front flood light with LEDs, I've also replaced the light inside the console with LED and just yesterday swapped out my anchor/masthead light with an LED..
The light (besides my nav lights) that is still antiquated is my overhead Taco fluorescent tube light. There is an insert option and I think Taco also sells a complete assembly. I heard the assembly has a switch on it, I guess so you can toggle back and forth between white and red?
Has anyone tackled the job and what did you go with?

I put one in my my old 2360 and wasn't that impressed with it...it wasn't that bright and the switch was kind of flaky. My lumitec rail2 on my current boat is much brighter, but that doesn't help you with the welded tube.
From what I remember, once I pulled the old light apart I could've figured out a way to mount about any LED strip inside of there (using the old light guts, not just the metal tube).

Did you go with an insert led strip or the Taco assembly?

I had went with the taco...I just remember thinking after it was installed that I could've rigged up something better.
But the taco fits and is an easy install.

I got the replacement card insert from birdsall marine. Red/white/blue. I love it. Just slid right in and is very bright. No switch. Operates off the dash switch. Just toggle to desired color.

I was going to replace the whole unit but When I called they said they also sold just the card. Think it was about $125. Give ‘em a ring

I got the replacement card insert from birdsall marine. Red/white/blue. I love it. Just slid right in and is very bright. No switch. Operates off the dash switch. Just toggle to desired color. Curious - does the Red (or blue) light *really* help with night vision. I mean, the white light spoils your vision, but does the red not impact as much or at all? I can't really see off the bow at all when I have my standard white light on....I find myself turning it on, then back off quickly if I'm actually under way....not good. It's worth it if it really makes a difference in that regard.... Thanks in advance

So good in fact, that noaa nav charts use magenta rather than red so you can read them under red light.

Just checked for the light info. Sorry I only have down that I replaced it 10/17. Pretty long ago so not sure if they are still the same. If you haven’t ordered it by the time I get it back I’ll measure it for you.
