Hey guys! So I'm on my second Garmin VHF 100 and the mic cord rubber coating has all but fallen off again. Has anyone had any luck finding an exact unit that will fit in the same opening? I really don't want to do any cutting. Let me know if anyone has had any luck. Thanks!

I'm not sure of the measurements on the 100, BUT if I was changing my VHF I'd go with a Standard Horizon GX2400. I've got the GX2200 and very happy with it, but to wire it up to get AIS on my Garmin chartplotter I had to use NMEA 0183 and the GX2400 uses NMEA 2000. You can get the the templates for any of their radios at www.standardhorizon.com/?cmd=showMarineManuals&DivisionID=3
I think most people who've had a Garmin VHF and a Standard Horizon, or most any other brand would recommend against the Garmin. IMO the Garmin doesn't compare well to other major brands.
Good luck. I think for every swap out I've done I end up cutting (I use a dremel) or having to add a plate.

I have only ever purchased Standard Horizon. When I upgraded my Standard Horizon radio, yep I went with Standard Horizon.

Can’t go wrong with iComm. I’ve got the one with AIS receiver which links to my chart plotter….. not that I’d ever want to know where the charter guys are…. 😳

I went from IComm (lasted 11 years), to Standard Horizon GX1600 (lasted 3 years) and now I have a Garmin 115 (past 10 months). Changed the IComm because it was faded and difficult to read the screen, but it worked. The Standard Horizon was problematic after year one. My DSC went off by itself twice in the 3 year life span and had to deal with the pissed off Coast Guard. After 3 years, it just quit working. So far no issues with Garmin.

Not a pretty solution but I removed the mic and rolled on 3m of 25mm diameter of heat shrink tubing . Probably get a few more years out of the radio.
