I just bought with my cousin a lightly used 2004 Sailfish 2100 Bay boat with aluminum trailer and yamaha 150 2S motor for $10k. My cousin bought it from a workmate he has known for many years as a friend and hunting/fishing companion. So the history of the boat and its condition is well known by my cousin. He lives in Mobile, AL and I live in San Diego, CA but grew up in Fairhope, AL. I'm renting a house on the Fish River in Fairhope for two months (Oct-Nov) and will keep the boat at this house which has two docks and a sand beach while I'm out there. I'm hoping to fish the fresh waters of the River and down stream to Weeks and Mobile Bays, and into the Gulf on nice days.
I'm excited to have a boat I can fish on both coasts now and someday to the Keys and fishing all the way there. Any comments pros and/or cons on this boat would be appreciated. I'm waiting for my cousin to let me know what it needs besides a trolling motor,
Dennis

Welcome! I really like the bay boat line up, they seem to fly under the radar.

Welcome aboard!!! These are nice bay boats and sounds like you guys got a good deal on it. I’m just over the MS line from you and fish some of the same areas. Good luck with her.

Thanks for the comments. I got hooked on backwater fishing with my cousin for reds last year. We'd launch in MS on a bayou finger and headed out into AL waters and up shallow fingers. Reds and trout were plentiful and fun to catch. We got stuck a couple of times and had to pole out of the mud when we got out of the channel. But what fun sight fishing or anticipating where the fish might be hiding. Looking forward to this type of fishing with this boat. Dennis

My cousin picked up the boat last Friday and took it to the Perdido Beach house of his girl friend for a weekend cruise. It is very clean with no damage from what he could see. Boat pulled 5 adults around with almost instant planning due to the additional power of a yammie 2s bored out to 175 hp with 60 hours from rebuild. The previous owner is a master mechanic for a major Mobile engineering company and was very anal about the maintenance of this boat, plus is a work mate of my cousin to assist him in the boat's upkeep and modernization. All I did was make the acquisition happen with a few $ his way. His boat but mine to use when I'm out there. I do not want 2 boats to maintain. I just purchased a Ulterra Riptide (80T/24vdc/60") for the boat but is back-ordered til late July. Just in time my 2 month vacation on the Fish River starting Oct 1. The boat is wired for a TM it once had with the batteries in the center console. Looking at goggle maps of the area it is a short boat ride from the rental house to Weeks Bay, into the Mobile Bay then into the gulf. I'm a bottom fisherman here in San Diego and am looking forward to searching the area for the same. Last photo my cuz showing off to his future mother-in-law Dennis

I leave in a few days from San Diego to the Fish River by Fairhope Al. I'm bringing with me or already sent a new MK Terrova TM, new AGM batteries, and all the necessary electrical/plumbing supplies to upgrade the wiring, fusing and connections to load devices, as well as a GPS/FF/portable transducer for the bow. I've got 2 months on the river to systematically bring this beautiful and functional boat for this and the next generation of family to use. My cousin's good friend grew up on Fish River and will guide me on how to fish it, Weeks Bay and beyond. The rental house is on the river with two docks to use. Back in the 50s my mom caught a 100+ alligator gar from my grandpa's dock just up the river from the rental.
I just love the wiring diagrams provided in the Sailfish Owner's Manual, however it is not detailed enough to shown all the electrical wiring connections points and where in the boat these points are located (cockpit, bow, transom). Does anyone have or know where I can get a detailed wiring diagram of the entire boat with wireways? If I can not get one then I'll just have to spend the time to make one up myself while tracing out every wire and connction points on the boat. I plan on generating a "D" size drawing of the entire boat's electrical/plumbing systems.

Unfortunately there is not a better wiring diagram. You will enjoy that area and wish you the best of luck with your projects and boating adventures. If you need anything, reach out to me. I’m just right over the MS AL line.

outtadblue,
Once I finish with a detailed wiring diagram of our 2100BB, I'll post it here for others to use as they repair/replace an aged electrical wiring system on their boats. Other Sailfish boats are probably wired similarly to the 2100BB. I'm sure Sailfish has more detailed proprietary engineering prints of their boat's electrical wiring system for construction purposes. Currently my cousin says our 2100BB has lights and devices that only occasionally work. However, I'm impressed with the detail on the electrical wiring harness/ckt panel prints in the Owner's manual but it does not depict where the wires are physically connected to on the boat and how they got there. I would like to relocate all batteries (TM & Starting) and onboard charger in the cockpit area and distribute the electrical system from there reusing the existing wiring harness as much as possible. But I will not know how to do that until I figure out how it is wired today. This should keep me busy for the 2 months I'm learning to fish Fish River and beyond.
Thanks for the out-reach. One place I will be fishing is the Bayou Launch area off Bayou Heron Road in your neck of the woods. We launch there and motor over to a few bayous in Alabama territory for specs and reds. My cousin's friend has a fish camp by the launch that we can use. I'll be in touch once I get situated.
