I've had my 218 WAC for 4 seasons and today the forward/midship bilge pump kicked on for the first time (at least that I saw in person). I'm a bit concerned, mainly because it ran and drained water for what seemed very long...probably a solid 2 minutes. The boat is kept in a slip, and this forward bilge pump drains on the port side. It drains onto the dock, so if it runs while I'm not down there, I might notice the wet dock. So I have a few reasons to believe this is an isolated issue, but again the amount of water that came out has me thinking.
I'm hoping the pump is just high enough from that bottom of the bilge that it took lots of water to get it to kick on and prime?
Does anyone know of any particular things above/below that deck drain into that area of the bilge?
I was washing the boat when it happened, but nothing too crazy. The aft bilge pump did not turn on, and it was dry down there (in the aft bilge). Also verified the aft pump is working both automatic and manual.
The access to this forward pump is in the cabin and it's super hard to get my arm down there. Planning to come back tonight with my 6 year old and see if he has better luck reaching down there. That way I can check for water periodically. This forward pump does not turn on with the manual switch.

So my first question would be have you had a lot of rain lately. These boats while sitting in the water will hold more water forward deep v. Mine does the same thing what normally happens you leave the slip and the rear pump may kick in for a little. Also the forward pump is only a 750 per hr so running for 2 min isn't a lot of water. Be safe take a mirror and good flash light and check any hoses,ECT.

I am sure it wasn't the first time that it kicked on. It seems to take a reasonable amount of water to activate it, at least in my boats case, so more than likely that amount of water accumulated over a period of time from washing and rain.
It is good to know it is working, it's something you want to see. And agree with Glen, it seems like more than it really is. When I get enough water up there to trip the pump it pumps for a good bit.

Just bought a 2005 218WAC and found the forward bilge pump while exploring hatches. Does this mid-ship area drain to the rear bilge when trailered with bow up?

My 2360 has 2 pump setup. It sits on trailer with the drain plug out. I’ll put plug in, attach to truck, and first stop light that forward pump triggers…. All over the car next to me. 😁

All over the car next to me. 😁 I hope you feel bad about it. I was getting gas at the dock when mine went off and drenched the dock hand. Luckily it was about 90 degrees, so they weren't upset. I apologized anyway. And, it does seem once it triggers it runs quite a while.
