Hello. I bought 2007 23ft last season with Yamaha 250 4-stroke with 450 original hrs. Love everything about the boat. This yr I added 2 new simard units with radar and 3d structure scan. Definitely a game changer for fishing wrecks and reefs. There is one issue I am having. If I trim the boat both all the up the starboard side is way higher then port. Don't matter how many people I am always adjusting the starboard. It's actually hard to steer at points because I am always trying to keep the boat were it should be. When running the boat its hard to turn port to the point I have on muscle it. Even if I trim both all the way down and turn hard to port the sounds like the motor comes out then it hard to turn it back the other way with out muscle it. I feel like the trim tab is mounted wrong or something. Then I think how the hell did the original owner since brand new wouldn't have taken back. Any idea or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Not having a single 250, but is it possible it's from the prop rotation.

Are you sure both tabs are working?

Check the trim tabs. Also check the anode on the lower unit. Make sure it’s not rotating (loose), that it’s not worn away, damaged, etc. if it looks good , rotate it to counter the prop rotation more.

x2 on the anode on the lower unit. Also, definitely check to make sure that both trim tabs are working. Given the year of your boat it could be that an actuator is not working and needs to be replaced. That happened on my 2012. Good luck.

Thanks for the response. Yes 100 percent both working. Node is brand new as well. I tried moving it little at time. Didn't make much of a difference.

Not having a single 250, but is it possible it's from the prop rotation. X-2 What he said... Likely "torque steer" from the rotation of the prop. Presents itself much worse if you're trimmed all the way in. That Yammie V6 250 is a tourqey little mother. If you can get the trim zinc on the cavitation plate adjusted properly it should compensate for your issue. You might check with Sailfish to determine the "specs" on motor height and prop size when they factory rigged the boat.

I also have trouble when steering to port. I don't have power steering and it's easy to head to starboard, but takes a bit more to port. The autopilot does fine most of the time, but I often have to 'assist' it when it's trying to head to port.
I don't have the trim tab problem you've described. If you can't load compensate with trim tabs something must be wrong. Easy enough to check. With the engine key on move the starboard control down. Your port tab should lower. Then check that the port control moves starboard tab.
Hadn't thought to move the trim zinc to try and compensate for torque, but it makes sense. I'll try moving it a couple of degrees to see if that helps steering to port.
Good luck!

The trim zinc make a huge difference. Early this season I put two new ones on they came as a kit but they were both made for a single. They both had a slight curve to the starboard side. The boat was a nightmare it kept pushing the boat to the port and then it was very hard to turn back to starboard because of those zinc's. They both went right in the garbage and I located two straight trim zinc, problem solved

The trim tab zinc are oval. I will check tomorrow to see if I have the model number. Crazy to think those little things can cause this issue. But from the sounds of it definitely can. Like I had mentioned in first post. I would think it has to be something easy because there no way since 2007 original owner would have put with this as a problem for that long. I had it almost 2 full fishing season and ready to sell it because it's frustrating.

Talked to Yamaha today and they said for the newer outboards when running in twin setup the trim anode does not need/have the fin anymore. My engines are 2018 and they are just outside of this new setup. So I guess anything 2019 could use those new anodes without a fin, if desired. I will cut the fins down on my setup so I do not have any possible actions from the fins and then go from there.
