I put a GoPro up where the hardtop is designed for a camera attachment and I control the GoPro with an iPad. Tried a phone, but was too hard to use when the boat is moving. Have multiple videos of grandkids and their friends on Big Mable and many of my friends while bringing in a fish. I carry a spare battery for the GoPro but I've only have to switch it occasionally. Here a snap from a video.
I use a Sionyx mounted on the windshield at night and the iPad to view it live. It works great. So much better than infrared. If there are any stars out at all I can see everything in color. So much easier to see crab pot floats when in color.
I'd like a more permanently mounted solution, but so far I haven't found the camera to equal the Sionyx at night. And with the iPad I can have a live view and radar up at the same time.
Sounds like a great set up.

The dash looks great! Love the new switch covers. Please let us know how the camera activation works if you get it up and running. I also want to add a camera to the hardtop tab on the SF 245 for ready recording. I thought about a Garmin VIRB and control it from the MFD, but it is discontinued. So I might end up with a GoPro. I want to install a USB outlet in the hardtop to allow power hookup to the camera without having to worry about a battery. I have an old GoPro that I want to install. Probably won’t happen until March when I get a chance for some free time work on it. I use an older gopro with gopro Jaws flex clamp. Awesome clamp, solid attachment to t-top's aluminum frame. Battery last pretty long, maybe 40-50 min, bought a couple of inexpensive after market batteries with dual charger for backup, but rarely need them. Toy wish list - newer gopro with better stabilization, droid, will likely get after i retire and have more play time, T-485 calendar days, but who's counting

T-485 and counting must make it easier to get through tough days. Those days will pass by quickly then hopefully every day on the boat will allow you to reflect on all those long days that made enjoying retirement possible. I’m not sure if I have 2 years, 7 years, or 10 years. But I have at least 2 years before I can decide in the 7 or 10 plan.
