Hey guys my name is Nick. I'm looking to get a sailfish 218cc. The one I'm interested in now and for sale locally is powered with a 150hp. It's seems like alot of them are powered that way. I would love to find one with a 200hp or more. Question could someone give me real performance numbers. The one I'm looking into now cruising speed is 24mph top end speed 35mph. I have a searay laguna 21 with a mercury 200hp 2stroke cruising 32mph and top speed 48mph. I know they are two different boats but I'm worried the sailfish is underpowered. I love the 218 but worried down the road I'm going to be disappointed.

Welcome aboard Nick.
From what I can find the max HP is 225. There are always trade offs. I had a 21' with 150 and it was fine from my particular uses: Pull kids on towable in a protected bay, run out in the ocean to fish. Since I didn't want to get beat up on the ocean runs, the 150 cruising speed (around 24) was fine. I rarely cared to go WOT.
Since you are already familiar with your waters and use, you know what you're getting into with the 150. Hopefully some 218 owners will chime in.

Welcome aboard, you could check performance bulletins and bring up that boat with that motor. If your that concerned maybe look for another 218 or 220 with more power.

Mine topped out at 38/39 mph trimmed out. It's a good package, not a speed demon but I thought the hull was pretty well balanced w/the F150.

Usually had 2 adults and a couple of young kids.

I have a 2007 218 WA with a 250hp motor. Bought it from a friend and when I was looking at comps for pricing I noticed a lot of these boats had a 150. I’m coming from a 16ft boat that had a 75hp motor and it was under powered and it sucks. It will be nice to be able to pass up the tards that can’t drive a boat. You know the ones that like digging their motors in the water and making tsunami’s for no reason.

I have a 2012 218 with a 250 Yamaha. No bottom paint. And with two adults and 75gal of fuel it’ll run a little over 50MPH and 30 is a good cruising speed.
