My forward Bilge pump needed to be replaced. So I reached into the hatch and the pump was free of being secured to any location. I haven't contorted my body yet to reach around in there to feel for a previous location. Any guesses on it's original location? 2004 266 CC
Side note: I had West Marine match the price from HOME DEPOT for a Rule 500 Automatic Bilge Pump. $67 vs $84!

On my 2660CC I made the hole bigger, and added a 12" access hatch. Its a lot easier to work with the opening a lot larger.

Mine was screwed to the floor. I bought the same pump and just left the bottom of the old pump attached to the floor then twisted the new on on.

Does all models has a forward bilge pump ? I have a 236 from 2003 I parked my boat a bit flat and find some water today ( big rain last night ) by opening the hatch in the cabin. Is the water suppose to flow at the aft of the boat and be pumped or does all model has a forward bilge ? If the ladder i have another problem Thanks !

My boat collects some water in the hull from rain and splash that always remains in hull. Its not enough to activate the forward bilge pump. The water also flows from the bow to the stern. You may have to clean the channel as in some sections its a tube. A few years ago mine was clogged and I ended up running a bottle cleaning brush attached to a set of fiberglass fish tape rods. I fed the fiberglass rods through the hull drain plug, and once at the forward bilge, I attached the brush and then pulled it out. On the first push, a lot debris was at the forward bilge pump. I repeated the process until there was no more debris on the brush. Basically I cleaned the channel like you clean a gun.

Great idea ! I notice some grey sticky matter on the channel , litteral dirt. Looks like i will try your technique see if i can get cleaned up .
I keep looking and no sign of forward bilge for now. The research continue !

My last boat was an 04 236. No forward bilge but had to clean the drainage canal and I always raised the bow by blocking the jack stand when parking the boat. Always took the drain plug out at the storage facility.

I learned yesterday my 236 has a forward bilge and was sort of surprised (though really uninformed). Boats in the driveway for spring cleaning and on a slight downslope, while I am up in it the bilge goes off and out comes 5-10 gallons of water. That seems to be a bit much and suspect I need to investigate.
