Thanks hookedup. Good info in that link. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm screwed. I'm not going to connect a new tach to a pulse generator for 65 days! Seems like there should be a better way for the user to adjust it. Hour meters are not like car odometers for legally logging usage. That data can be downloaded directly from the outboard's ECU. Hour meters in the gauges are just for convenience.

That rpm meter sounds like it’s getting a neg voltage instead of a pos voltage or vice versa. I’d go check electrical connections before giving up on it. It being a boat, I’m going with bad ground.

Nothing was changed since it was working. All wires are connected properly. Ground is good: it still lights up and displays the hours on the LCD. The rpm signal comes from a single wire, so it can't be reversed. It senses the ignition pulses and calculates the dial position. It's most likely just going bad, since it no longer processes the pulse signals correctly. Already ordered a new one. If that one doesn't work, then I'll know there's some other issue.

UncleBuck, did you get your tachometer hours thing figured out? I have 2005 Sailfish 218 CC and RPM / hour guage is not registering.
