My boat came with a B60 thru hull transducer. It's okay offshore, but inshore it's not very good. I've decided to add to or replace with a GT52 transom transducer. I've only seen one single engine Sailfish with a transom transducer and before I put it in I'd like advise on placement. These guys added two transducers a couple of weeks ago and I left before they added the transducers, so I don't know how their placement has worked out. I only plan one on the starboard side. I had planned to add mine right about where the starboard bunk is located, but theirs may be a better location. Thoughts?

Mount as close to the center line/keel as you can but not in line with strake or in line with the prop edge.
I advise getting the spray shield.

Here is where the previous owner mounted the GT34UHD-TM. When I test drove the boat, it held bottom and showed great detail even 40+mph in 30+ feet of water.

I'll put it there.

Transducer installed. So far, so good. Only time I lost bottom was while turning sharply to port. Thanks for the placement advice.

I cant remember reason I picked this exact location, but it works great at all speeds and depths I'm at.

I'm about to put a TotalScan Transducer on the back of my 2660. Is that going to be a problem? It didn't occur to me until just now, but the engines may block the scan on one side. That would suck...
I didn't see any pics of placement above. Did they get deleted?

I didn't see any pics of placement above. Did they get deleted? I have a side scan and my ducer is mounted just starboard of the keel. It reads both sides but because my ducer is more to starboard the view off port maybe slightly impacted, but it still works esp at idle speeds. If you can mount it above your drain plug at center that might provide better/equal coverage to port/starboard.

Now to free up space I've been modifying the pictures a little to recover space, so the pictures should remain for a longer period. And, unless you are downloading and really enlarging the pics you shouldn't notice any difference. Sorry, but I can't put any back that I don't have access to.

I like the idea of putting it in the middle...that way both engines can block the side view equally! LOL

Yes, that helps, thank you. I'll look to see if my boat has a flat spot on the keel. If so, I'll strongly consider the bottom mount. Else, I'll just try just off the drainplug and see how it goes. Thanks all!

So, how do you run the transducer cable? Through the rigging tubes? I don't have an old transducer cable that I'm pulling out, otherwise I'd tie a line to that and pull through. Where did you guys physically run the cable? I see abouttime2fish drilled a hole to access under the transom deck, but not sure where it would go from there, or how to get it to the console? How tricky are 2660's to wire for stuff? I've got a fair amount of other things to wire (like a trolling motor). I've seen some posts here talking about it being a total PITA to run wires... Hoping that it's not THAT bad...

If you've got rigging tubes you're way ahead of the game. My 245DC didn't have any that I could find and all the cables and steering hoses are just laying on the starboard side of the boat. To run my transducer cable I ran a fish tape down the side (or a rigging tube if you have one) and I hooked several pull tapes to the fish tape and pulled them from the bilge area back up to the console. I used one of the pull tapes to pull the transducer cable to the console.
Doubt I'll ever need to pull another cable, but now I have several pull tapes available just in case.
