Damn this is tough. Three more weeks before I can "begin" to use my arm. Today I'd burn gas just to go for a ride. Guess I'm lucky the rest of the week will be rain.

That's good you were able to take a ride, you'll be fishing again soon.

How's the shoulder recovery going?

Slowly, but okay. PT twice a week and they move my arm around as I'm not supposed to. In 3 weeks the brace comes off, but still not supposed to use it for 2 more weeks (that's going to be interesting), then PT will change to strengthening for a month or two. Looking forward to finding out if having the bicep tendon reattached will improve my strength and casting accuracy. Hope so.

In case anyone is following this thread because they're thinking about getting shoulder surgery: Brace came off 5 weeks after surgery. A bit sore and weak, but way better than when in brace. Two days after the brace was removed I'm probably doing most light duty things that I did before surgery, just slower and with caution. Cannot lift that arm straight up yet, but otherwise good movement with only a little pain. Still having to lift anything with any weight in the other hand, but that appears to be improving day by day.

Good for you Richard! The hard part is past but you still have a ways to go before you can fight a big fish, so just keep the long term perspective this summer. Good that things are going so well this far so keep it up!

Sounds like you're in good shape to test that arm out on some light tackle bottom fishing for croakers.

I was thinking spot and croaker....but, they're catching speckled trout between Cape Henry and Rudee. Maybe able to check that out next week.

Final for this thread. PA and PT agreed I could stop Physical Therapy, so 80 days after surgery I'm finished therapy. No where near 100% for strength yet, but I'm several weeks ahead of plan. Measured my movements and strength before they cleared me and gave me an exercise plan to continue until fall.
Taking daughter and her family out Sunday on the boat. After that, fish better scatter or plan to get caught.

Glad to hear your recovery went well and from the sounds of it, you're close to the finish line. Time to get back to serious summer fishing.
