Hey guys,
I have a 2007 2360 blue hull with constant oxidation issues. Compound every spring before launching and within a few weeks oxidation back. I have been using Fluid Film on my nonskid, same as Wood wax at 1/4 the price. I decided to try on the blue hull. It takes 5 minutes to apply and only lasts about a week but WOW the blue looks new again. I now weekly throw a coat on with a soft brush and the hull looks amazing. I spray the hull down with fresh water, apply to the brush first then let sit for 10 minutes or so then spray with fresh water again and done.

Man oh man you'll need to buy that stuff in bulk if you have to apply it weekly.

Cost $9.99 a can and get several applications per can. Goes a long way!

It's time for paint or a huge wet sand job. We have a member here with a dark color hull orange. He spent crazy hours to restore the gel coat and it works if your willing to put the work into it.

Too much work to wet sand myself. My detailer was way too busy this spring for a wetsand so this will do for now. Cheap fix and makes me feel better not having to look at the oxidation all season.

Is this the same Fluid Film I spray on the undercarriage of my Jeep to repel dirt and sand and inhibit rust? That seems to be a petroleum based product.... Gray/Maroon can with a big red circle....

Yes but its lanolin based, read the label on your can. Its safe for the environment and not petroleum based. My can is red but I believe it's the same stuff. Same as Woodwax which is designed for nonskid fiberglass.

What Fin said ^! I know others attempted that the color restoration feat with "Mop and Glow" and another with "Brake & Power steering Fluid". Looked great until the disasters struck. The floor product hazed and cracked in the sun and once the oils in the brake fluid wore off it left the hull dull beyond the pale. Nothing beats elbow grease and recognized specialized products manufactured for a particular purpose. Just sayin'

I mean, who would endorse coating vehicles with oil and then going into streams and woods and beaches? I just never checked -- looked and feels like oil. But lanolin makes sense. Anyway, as for me, I'm still in the moderate haze category. Compounding with 3M products was hard last year, but made a big difference. This year I changed to FleetCut and then FleetWax after that, and it went easier and came out better. I think it's better because it was the second time, I'm not criticizing 3M. Next Year, I might try the ProCut 1000 mentioned.... or maybe even I'll pay for a wet sand..... Good luck!

I agree, this is temporary a fix until a wetsand next spring. I tried Smoove 1000 did ok but not great. I am getting to old to be breaking my ass on trying to keep this boat shinny. All my other boats were white and all the next ones will be as well. Color looks great but just too hard to keep up. This stuff won't damage the hull or cause any issues because its just lanolin. Looks great and I will continue applying every week or so until next spring.

Got to ask: Why no discussion of vinyl wrap? Wouldn't that be a fairly long term solution? I have no idea of the cost, but I do see a lot of boats with full wrap designs and I suspect I see some with single color too, but without a close inspection the only thing I notice is how good their color looks.
Except for a fiberglass boat my dad had with green metal fleck deck and hardtop all my boats have been white or an off white. Never look flashy, but easy to care for. Last few boats I removed the wax and used Rejex. Seems to hold up well and I just do it again when water stops beading. Usually 2-4 months, but my boat is dry stored out of the sun so I don't know how well it would perform constantly in the sun.

Wrap is expensive as is a new paint job. The hull is excellent condition except the oxidation is getting worse every year. My boat is kept in the water from April through December. I take it out only for a major storms or needs repair that can't be done in the water. I live on the water so I am on the boat just about everyday.

It does look pretty. Sure looks good after a week too (IMO).
My boat is over 30 minutes away and I have to get someone to put it out on a work rack, or in the water, so a weekly application of anything wouldn't work well for me. Grew up with my boats in the water behind my house, but the water I live on now is not where I want the boat to be - close to the bay and ocean.
