X2. Daughter had us for dinner last night (really good), relaxing day planned today and FINALLY going on the boat tomorrow with one of my buddies to fish. He's forgoing Cobia or Red Drum so we can fish for something I might be able to bring in, Spanish Mackerel. A good father's day indeed!

Hey Richard we all want the fishing report later today and hopefully some great news about all the fish your new shoulder was able to bring in! Neighbor had to back out since his Father’s Day dinner ended up making him sick. Going to try it tomorrow alone. Decided tomorrow better for winds and waves and for sure I don’t want to fight the steering wheel yet. Still looking forward to deciding the surgery was worth it, and at PT they say it will probably be around 4 months after surgery before I’m almost back to normal. Damn….2 more to go. It is a lot better than a few weeks ago, but still worse than before surgery. Maybe by fall I’ll be casting again and better than before!

Just go easy don't do anything stupid, lol we're good for pushing the envelope especially if the admiral isn't there to break our stones. I hope to give you guys a good report tomorrow I'll be leaving my house at 1AM. Heading to the boat and heading offshore.

A 1AM rise...I'm impressed! I seldom did that even when it was duck hunting season. Best to you finatic!

I've left at 4am several times to get out to the gulf stream before 7. I haven't been able to get anyone interested in an overnight trip, but I think that would work well although exhausting. Leave around 4pm. Fish the canyon for tuna until dark. Then drift in the canyon all night and fish and get back to tuna fishing before dawn and head home when we've met our limit or early/mid afternoon.
My son-in-law has done that several times, but on a 65 footer where you could actually go to bed for awhile and have a hot dinner and breakfast. I doubt I could do much more than nod off as I'd have radar alarms set and excessive drift alarms, and sonar alarms, so I doubt I'd actually sleep. But, I do keep asking the guys I fish with if they'd like to try it sometime. I think it could be fun but I would have to buy at least one more Yeti to make sure there's enough ice.

I'll get my update in before Glen as I spent a lot less time on the water. Guess the last few days of wind drove in a lot of weeds. Most of my rod use was bringing in weeds and after PT this morning my muscles are complaining. The planer line got the most weeds of course. After about five de-weeds on the planer I started slowing down the boat when bringing in the planer. Saw a few other boats trolling for Spanish, but no catching.
Finally I saw the planer rod go limp and I started reeling it in. Thought it might be a good size Spanish by the pull, but when it got near the boat it was two bluefish. My rig has 5 hooks, and this was the first time it's been doubled up.
Except for the weeds just the kind of day my shoulder needed. Waves less than a foot, high temp of 80 and I got to catch fish. I will add that washing the boat took a lot longer using my left arm for most of the work.
Looking forward to my next trip.

Long day for me as well. We ran 166 nm. Lost 1 BF and landed 1 jumbo size ocean albacore. It was just a slow day on the water but still an awesome day. As slow as it was we did better than most at least no skunk. Lol
