Hey guys, I'm looking at a 2360 that has twin 200 yamaha 4 strokes on the back and was wondering if that is too much hp for that boat? This particular boat is a 2 owner boat and there is no capacity plate on it anymore. I know sailfish when I called said 300 was max and I've seen them with 400hp plates. Any thoughts? I'm waiting to hear back from insurance on a quote and if they will insure it. I've also seen a number of 2360s with 200 has on the back. Thanks

BTW, I have twin 200s on my 275 DC and that is more than enough for my needs...on a smaller boat it may be a bit much, but if you can insure it you should be fine with it. It matters less how much HP you have, more so how you use it and under what conditions.

Appreciate the feedback back. Insurance said no problem on the hp so hopefully the survey comes back good.

Also, are the tanks poly or aluminum on the 06 2360? Thanks

300 is max.
Are these the new lighter 4 strokes or the older heavier TXR units?
If old I'd be more worried about the weight and stress on the transome that was engineered for 300 hp/twin 150s or single 250/300.
I'd also want to see the boat sitting in the water with a half a tank of fuel and see where those scuppers are at.

fishnfool has a point about the weight and strength of the transom. As it is, the scuppers on many of the Sailfish models seems to be at or near the limit of what you can tolerate when you have fuel and gear and people aboard. When your feet get wet don't come complaining, just sayin'...

I'd probably be okay with that since there's really not much difference in weight with the newer F150s. The old 200s shared the same heavy block as the f250, not the new in line version. I'd still want to see the boat in the water. Make sure they are 25" shafts.

Thanks for the information everyone. I'm also going to look at a 2660 with twin one 150s and 500 hours on it.
