I would like to add a knob to my steering wheel on my 245 dc. I bought the "clamp on" type but they are all too small. The steering wheel is too thick. Has anyone successfully added one? Im thinking I can drill a whole through the spoke.

Call it day and replace the wheel, buy an Edison.

I don't know much about the Edison but it seems very high quality. My wheel is leather wrapped oe steering wheel. There are comments that this won't work because my steering wheel is to thick.

My 2018 does not have one, I was one another member's 245 DC, think his is a 2020 or 2021 and noticed he had one, not sure if it was factory or aftermarket, looking at you Dave, did yours come standard or did you add it?

Mine came standard on my 2012, love it, can't imagine steering the boat without it.

I had one on my previous boat and really needed it as the far port to far starboard was so many turns. I haven't really noticed a problem turning on my 245DC, even when docking so I haven't looked to add one.
Guess if I hadn't added the autopilot I might be looking for one, but the only time I usually steer is when docking, or in really rough conditions where the autopilot tends to over correct on large waves and wind.

Thanks all! I love the replacement of the entire steering wheel but wonder if there is any hold back to just drilling my existing and mounting a knob?

I've never heard of a leather wrapped steering wheel on a boat. Can you remove that and then add the knob?

I was worried that the leather wouldn't hold up but so far the old one looks great after 5 years so I assume the new one will too. I also kept the old one as a backup and will drill and tap to add the knob
. I need the knob as I have to back in my boat lift and need to work the throttle with one hand and make rapid adjustments with the wheel using the other. I tried for a while to do it without the knob and too many times my hand just slipped off the wheel or missed as I am not looking at the wheel but the stern. I thought about a fully stainless but I do boat in the fall and want to see if the leather is easier on the hands in the cold weather than the cold steel!
I love the knob regardless!!

Get a Gemlux Steering Wheel. Knob is integrated into the wheel. I never had good luck with installing aftermarket knobs.

I don't know anything about them, but Edson makes a knob that is advertised to fit up to 1 1/8" diameter. They come with 2 strap sizes, but looks like you can buy a longer strap to roll your own for an extra $8.
My 2018 does not have one, I was one another member's 245 DC, think his is a 2020 or 2021 and noticed he had one, not sure if it was factory or aftermarket, looking at you Dave, did yours come standard or did you add it?
My 2022 came with the knob. I do most of my steering with it.
