I was on the water yesterday with relatively calm waters and suddenly my ultra flex steering wet to red then right back to blue. This happened numerous times during the day. I shut everything down and checked the fluid level in the reservoir in the bow of the boat. When the motor was off the level was at the max line. When everything was running the level was below max. I don't really want to pull the boat to take it a local dealer for something I might be able to fix. It's a 2018 245dc. Anyone experience this loss of power steering ?

You mean the indicator light on the dash control is going red? Not seen that on mine. Typically I run my in fishing mode the whole time because the pump runs quieter, not that you can tell once you are going faster than idle. Maybe some air in the line momentarily causing an issue that clears???

I had the same thing happen to me a couple of times. I think the pump might have been overheating according to the instructions. It only happens for a second. And the times it happened, I was aggressively turning from right to left to right, etc

After some research it appears this will happen if the batteries are not producing enough juice. I went out today and ran on the number 1 battery instead of number 2 and it worked great. I switched back to battery 2 and had the red light come on. Tomorrow I try to change the battery out Thanks

I just learned something valuable, thank you! One more thing to tuck away because sooner or later I'll be seeing the same thing most likely!

I changed out my USB charger on the dash to one that shows voltage. Don't have to break out a meter anymore and I know in a second my battery reading or charging voltage reading.
Worth every penny and wasn't difficult to install.

I've experienced it several times, always seems to be due to voltage.

That is good to know on the voltage! And it makes sense. I have one battery that doesn't seem to have the same level of charge as the other. And good idea on the plug in monitor! That lighter insert is just sitting there...
