Has anyone had experience dealing with the shower sump on a walkaround? It looks like the cover of the box that houses it is larger than the access hatch

There are only a few WAC members. Maybe Pete will chime in when he checks in.

Are you having a particular issue with the shower/sink pump assembly? If so, be a bit specific and I might be able to suggest a solution for you. In any event; once removed the access hatch under the stairs provides enough room to service the shower/sink pump assembly. Basically its nothing more than a 500 gpm bilge pump and a float switch contained in a plastic box. Inlets from the head sink, shower floor drain and galley sink feed into the plastic box. When it fills the float switch triggers the pump and overboard the gray water goes. A stuck or gummed up float switch is a common fault that renders the pump inoperative. Easy fix.

My boat is a 2012. I know that the problem is likely a stuck float switch, since the pump was running dry continuously. I had to cut the wire. My problem is that once I remove the access hatch I don’t have room to remove the cover of the plastic box. I’m going to take another look at it and consider cutting out a window so I can get at the pump, and then rig a way to close up the window. Thanks for responding. Let me know if you have other thoughts.

I wouldn't know what type shower sump assembly in the 2012. Many of the shower sump providers moved to an auto pump in lieu of a separate float switch.
In any event; before you perform major surgery I would suggest pouring enough of a degreaser agent such as "bilge" cleaner down a drain to fill the shower sump box. Let it sit for a few days, run the boat in a chop to agitate the cleaner. Re-connect the power wire and hopefully the float switch will free up and then function as intended.
I have had and know many boaters that experienced the same issue. De-greasing the sump box has worked. It needs to be done periodically to keep the float free. Since you stated the pump was running continuously, it indicates a float switch stuck in the "up" position.
Although tight, our '07 sump assembly is accessible to service.
PM me if I can provide further assistance. Cheers Pete
