So I read a few topics in here about the fishboxes. Mine trap water with rain or cleaning the boat. So I can't store anything in it and ice won't last very long. Some mention using a seal but do you put it on the lid or the edge of the box itself?
Any other ideas to seal it.

Can't help much, but I did find that if I put in ice ahead of time and then drain and add more ice later it lasts longer the second time. I really wanted to better insulate mine, but it looks like I could access maybe 4 square inches below deck.
There is always some water in mine. I just clean it often. If I was going to try to add a better seal I'd put in on the lid.
Good luck to you and let us know what you end up doing.

I added gasket material to the lids of my in floor locker. McMaster Carr sells it.

I bought rolls of neoprene rubber and used spray adhesive to stick it to the entire underside of the lid. I believe this is how sailfish ships newer boats.
Insulates the box a little better and also improves the seal (if you adjust the latch correctly). Still not water tight though.
I won’t say it’s the perfect solution but it did help. Instead of having full fish boxes after washing the boat, they’re only about 1/4 full lol.
4th season on mine and nothing has peeled off.

I like the neoprene upgrade, it sounds nice. I would think it's better for insulation than water intrusion but that depends on how you cut it...does it cover the ridge around the fish box and seal up against that? Got any photos that you could share?
On a prior boat the hatch around the inboard needed some padding so I got some garage door/weatherseal that was peel and stick, a roll that was about 1/2" to 3/4" wide foam with glue on one side. That worked well for that application as full coverage wasn't needed. That was a cheap improvement from the local big box hardware store.

I did the weather seal from lowes as well. It went a long ways towards keeping leaves and crap out of the box. Don’t know if you can get that stuff on sheets, if so just cover the entire inside of the lid. I say this because I find ice lasts longer when I have the seat cushions on covering the top.

Absolutely ice stays longer with cushions on top or a bean bag.

I think Mikey had a thread on insulating the fish boxes... It was a pretty intense project. I'd like to see if I can blow some expanding foam in the undersides. but any links to this material you all are using on the lids?
