I'm thinking of getting one for my 266. Not sure if I need the 84 or 96.... I'm leaning towards the 96 because of the Texas chop I usually fish in. Any suggestions?

Thanks. I've read that one, but not definitive if the 84 or 96 is what I should get.

I don't have one and never used one, so my 2 cents probably ain't worth too much, but I'll say this, I read a lot of discussions and one thing I never heard anyone say is "boy, I wish I'd gotten the next size shorter..."

Bigger is always better. At least that’s what my girlfriends that left me used to say. To which I replied, a bank account can only buy you so much happiness.
I’ve noticed on a couple other posts in various forums that the 96 handles the waves with less drain on the batteries. I don’t have one but that’s the impression I get from their experiences. I can’t stomach the project cost.

Got the 84"for my 270. Less than a season and paint is chipping. Look deep into Rhodan paint chip problems. I should have bought a Minnesota

Also interested in this topic. A GPS-enabled trolling motor is on my short list of purchases for my new-to-me 2660. Most threads I've seen mention the 84" ones, but fishing 2'-3' chop, is that the best size? Hoping for some others to chime in on their experiences. Does an 84" stay well planted in the water in choppy conditions, or do you wish you would have gone up a size? As far as Rhodan vs Minnkota, I've read issues on both. But I'll take peeling paint any day over some of the issues I've read on the Minnkotas. As always, individual experiences vary, but sounds like a LOT of major issues with the Minnkotas.

Warning...PAINT CHIPS ON RHODAN
I purchased the 84" for my 2014 270cc. I dive blue water and typically fish in 2-3' NJ dirty water.
*****T he Rhodan's have an issue with the paint chipping away on the units. Google Rhodan trolling motor paint chips. I called Rhoda and was told unless the unit is malfunctioning there was nothing they would do.
I love the unit, it's strong and easy to use and comes with everything you need to get started except an aluminum mounting plate which I fabricated.
My friend is a MinnKota service rep and the MinnKota seems much more flimsy(lighter) but still functional and reliable. Just my two cents

Been figuring out how to do an install of an 84” Rhodan on my 2360 CC. Best solution I’ve found is here shuttleslide.com/shop/I sent them an email and some pics. Minus pics here is that thread…. Me - I’m trying to find a mounting solution for an 84” Rhodan on my 2006 Sailfish 2360CC. Specifically I am looking at your 9 EXD with 6” extension. Including some pics on where it would need to go. Issue is the one bolt location. It’s down the slope of the bow. With some sort of spacer around a longer bolt, would this work?? Also wondering, can the quick real ease puck be incorporated or is that functionality lost? Response- Since the front / starboard bolt is not located on a flat surface, you would also need a custom deck plate from us in addition to the EXD mount. I have attached some pictures. The front starboard bolt, coming down from the EXD mount, would only be attached securely into our deck plate and the other three bolts (on your template) would be inserted from the mount, down into/through the deck plate and drilled into the deck. Is the "0" on the tape measure at the very outer edge of the rub rail? If so, the 6" extension could work and the shaft will deploy 1 inch from the rub rail. One important thing about the deck plate. The deck plate would be the same width as the 9EXD (5" wide), but it would extend about 1 inch behind the 9EXD mount. There would be 2 additional holes into the deck at the very end of the deck plate. The 4 back holes on the deck plate need to be attached into the deck. You have a small area between the anchor locker and starboard cleat. Do you think everything would fit? We don't want the base plate of the EXD mount to overlap the anchor locker. Maybe a 7EXD is better since it's only 13" long and the extra plate that extends about 1 inch beyond the back of the EXD mount would place it further away from the anchor locker. You would need the deck plate securely attached into your deck in 5 locations and the front starboard hole would be the only hole that is not attached into the deck. The top 6" extension plate is 7.75" wide. Your Rhodan (with the quick release attached to the bottom of the trolling motor) is about 7.5" wide. When your trolling motor is slid back in the stowed position, the back left side corner of the extension plate would be over the anchor locker door so you would need to slide the motor forward to open the anchor locker. That is why I think the 7EXD may work better. The 6" extension will have the Rhodan quick release puck hole pattern in it. You can use it or just attach the Rhodan directly to the extension plate. To remove the Rhodan, unscrew the 2 back travel stops and slide the motor off the back of the mount. The 6" extension is included in the cost of the 9EXD or 7EXD (no additional charge). When you check-out, make a note that you need the 6" version (the first set of holes are 12.5" inboard). The deck plate is $100. If you would like the deck plate, add "100" to the cart and that will equal $100 at check-out and also make a note that you need a deck plate. shuttleslide.com/product/custom-part-shipping/Please let us know if you have any additional questions. When factoring in the mounting plate, the 7 measures to fit much better. Couple pice for clarity. One showing mounting bolt locations without the plate, and one he sent back to show with plate.

This is a member on here, I think he was the first to install one... He created an install thread that had pics but they may have been deleted.
