Wow, 30 days have passed and not one post about a DIY project. I guess everyone is flush with cash 💰 and sourcing out projects. Me, I have a 3 in 1 transducer, horn, subwoofer, two speakers, and an amp to install. But, I’m waiting for winter break to start before I take on any more projects.

As the admiral tells me "You add anything else to the boat and you're going to sink it". That may be a little extreme, but at this point it's mostly upgrades as the dash is full and my wish list is empty. No project planned this year (probably first year without a boat project in 10 or more years).

I recently did my horn but it was such a minor project I almost didn't consider it to be a real DIY project. I don't like the mounting location though as it is prone to water intrusion and UV damage to the waterproofing membrane in front of the horn, so it's prone to fail.

Since I suspect our horn setup is similar, what'd you do? On my Albemarle it had proper air horns on the hardtop. They gave me trouble constantly as rain, wave spray and washdowns caused corrosion and got water into the air line.
The horn on the Sailfish has worked good for 4 years.

My OEM horn is a Seachoice Hidden 12VDC horn model 14571, located just forward and below the starboard windshield and the rear half is accessible from within the helm compartment. The outside mounting area is at a 30-45 degree angle and the problem with that (as opposed to a more vertical mounting location) is that once the waterproof membrane under the grate fails due to UV damage, water easily enters the horn and then its all over except for the replacement. I tried to replace the membrane with a piece of plastic last year, but it didn't work for long and the horn was never the same once it got wet the first time anyway. By the way, I have an extra horn if anyone wants it...due to a shipping snafu the company I bought mine at ended up shipping me two of them (first one was misplaced or lost somewhere and never showed up until 6 weeks after the 2nd one had arrived and got installed). They didn't want it back so I got a spare. Attachments:

It's too cold here to be outside.

My horn is OE from 2007, I probably shouldn't have said anything! It will now probably fail next time I try it.

It’s not a big job but along with rewiring my horn I replaced the rigging tubes last weekend. Used to have white but they cracked after only two years. I sought my mechanic‘s advice with the fabric and he recommended the black tube as they last longer than the white. He’s not crazy about the fabric.

I have new speakers but I haven't purchased the radio yet. Probably the original radio that came with the boat, it's a Fusion MS-IP600. Anyone replace this unit on their boat. I'm looking at staying with Fusion but don't know which model will fit in the same hole. Also I want one that is Sirius XM ready . Thanks.

DirtyD if the horn looks the same as the package it will most likely fit...I can get some measurements as to screw spacing if needed but I suspect it's available online too if you Google that model number. I'm willing to part with it if you want it. Private message me.

I'll get you the model numbers from my old, and the replacement, Fusion radio that I did last summer (of course the original radio isn't made anymore but the replacement did fit the same hole...I contacted a Fusion dealer (or maybe it was their tech support folks, I don't recall anymore) and they gave me the replacement model number. It was ready to accept inputs from my SiriusXM auxiliary decoder but didn't have the decoder/tuner built in. I'll check in later with the model numbers.
UPDATE: I Replaced my old Fusion model MS-RA205 stereo with new model MS-RA210. They have the same footprint so the cutout in the dash is identical.
