I'm sure a lot of us are facing some cold windy weather. Our low tonight will be 12 degrees and the power company sent out an email warning yesterday that due to the winds and cold weather we may have power issues and to be prepared. Sure hope no one looses power in 12 degree weather as our homes weren't designed to handle much less than freezing to begin with and the last time it got this cold I remember houses burning down due to people using torches to try to unfreeze pipes. We'll have cabinets open and faucets dripping water all night. Stay warm.
Current temps ok, but winds..not so much:
Wind/Waves Dir Spd/Ht Gust/Steep Home WNW 16.0 41.0 ChesBayTunnel SW 33.0kts 44.7kts Cape Henry ESE 7.2 ft AVERAGE Offshore Waves SE 11.8 ft STEEP
And I never understand the "Average" compared to steep. 7' waves in the bay aren't average in any way.

Temps dropped over 10 degrees since 9am. 45 down to 33. It's supposed to be 19 degrees by 6pm and single digits tonight.
I went down to the boat and lowered my motors into the water since the water to let any water in the cowlings to drain and since the bay water will be warmer than the outside air temps.

Its a good idea to keep the lowers down when it gets that cold. The water that collects in the lowers when they are up from rain could freeze.
