Hi Everyone, I recently bought this 236 and the elctronics are a little dated. I'd love any suggestions on brands and models to update things. I don't anticipate going beyond radio range too often and plan to fish around the NC wrecks within 10-20 miles. I'm fairly new to boating so any direction would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance for any advice.

For intuitive reliable functionality I'm partial to Garmin. A transome mount ducer like the GT 51 or GT52 would be solid option for wreck fishing. The motion scope technology is pretty impressive. Furuno is also highly regarded for both radar and sonar technology. I'd lean towards a 12" screen minimum. Maybe a secondary screen to match if money is no object, you could always go smaller for a secondary screen and use it primarily for sonar. I also wouldn't hesitate to reach out to Jim at BOE Marine for guidance and pricing. If Jim isn't available Emily is super knowledgeable and easy on the eyes too boot.

No issue with Garmin for most everything but the radio. The Standard Horizon GX2400 has superior sound (IMHO) and will add AIS info to your display via NMEA 2000. As fishnfool says go with the larger display size as it will help with most everything. You'll find the prices fixed at almost all stores as the manufacturers control the price. Best you can usually do is get free shipping. I mostly use TheGPSstore as they're close to me, offer free shipping on a lot of their product and they get it shipped fast. Never asked them any questions, so I can't recommend them for advice. I'd go with fishnfool's recommendation if you need to ask questions.
Good luck and enjoy the boat.

I don't have any advise, but it sounds like a fun project. Good luck with it.
