The Admiral can't get to the TV tonight to watch and asked me to record it. You've got to understand that the first time I took her fishing it was "Oh, how can you hurt that poor fish". Now it's "When are you going to go out and get us some fresh tuna?".
We'll both watch, just at different times.

I just finished working in the yard and am ready to watch the reruns. My wife calls these shows the “beep, beep” shows and she would watch with me if the beeps didn’t drive her crazy. Sure wish there was an option to allow the language.

It's just Marciano he's the one that swears a lot. They should just let the foul language play out, it's fishing we all do it.
Nobody is worst than Tony Beets on Gold Rush

Nice start to their season, some captions have returned and some new. I think it's one of the biggest fleets to date fishing for their season.

Yep, they had 2 episodes last night had to record the 2nd show. Pick up another reel today Penn spinfisher VI 8500. They have 40 lbs of drag. I fought a 53" BF for 2.5 hrs with that reel, it did the job. It's not a Saragosa but a fraction of the cost.

I have 3 of these and 1 9500. I have caught many yellowfin on them. A couple buddies have the Saragosa and I like them too. I was planning on replacing my pen’s with the Saragossas when they wear out but I can’t wear them out.

Did anyone notice that Time Flys changed motors. Went from Yamaha 350’s to Suzuki 350’s?

This sure could change Wicked Tuna:
Parts of 2023 and 2024
NOAA Fisheries announces a proposed rule regarding the use of restricted-fishing days (RFDs) in the Atlantic Tunas General category and HMS Charter/Headboat fisheries for parts of the 2023 and 2024 fishing years. What will it do?
Under the proposed rule:
NOAA Fisheries would establish RFDs every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from July 1 through November 30, 2023 and every Tuesday and Friday from December 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024 while the fishery is open. Atlantic Tunas General category (commercial) permitted vessels may not fish for (including catch-and-release and tag-and-release), possess, retain, land, or sell a bluefin tuna of any size class on an RFD. HMS Charter/Headboat permitted vessels may fish for, possess, retain, or land bluefin tuna recreationally under applicable HMS Angling category rules, but may not commercially fish for or land a bluefin tuna on an RFD. Throughout the season, NOAA Fisheries may waive certain RFDs by increasing the bluefin tuna retention limit for those days; however, NOAA Fisheries would not modify RFDs in other ways (e.g., switching days, adding RFDs).
Who is affected?
Any Atlantic Tunas General category or HMS Charter/Headboat permit holder fishing commercially for bluefin tuna. Any dealers who buy or sell Atlantic bluefin tuna. Some Atlantic bluefin tuna tournaments that are open to participation by Atlantic Tunas General category permit holders.

What a crock of crap. It sure is. I just was listening to a captain who said how very important it is for recreational fisherman to report any catches and or release within 24 hrs. He claims with so many permits being issued and so little being reported it shows a lack of fish which has lead to this change in regulations.

Very similar to our red snapper situation. The feds turned the regulations over to the states for two years because they said we could manage better. After two years the feds said we did too good of a job so they cut our quota by 60%. We haven’t met our quota the last two years but they going to cut it anyway.

Granted I don't fish every day, but Virginia Marine Science (VMS) has come on the boat 1 time in the last 30-40 years to see my catch and measure it. They came to the boat and explained they are not there to check fish for rule breaking, just to check the catch and then they ask permission to board. They measured the fish and asked where caught, then left.
Based on my experience I have no idea how VMS has any idea about how we're (recreational) fishermen doing. I hope they're checking other fishermen, but if my experience is an example, they can't be doing much more than guessing. Probably don't have enough money to do a reasonable sampling, but we all know there are good days and bad when fishing. If they went looking for cobia caught on a calm day they'd think no one was catching any. On a rough, windy day they'd think everyone was catching. We all know conditions are important to some fish, but do they? The guy doing the measuring appeared to be about college age, so my assumption (yes, I know about the first 3 letters) is they are using volunteers to do the assessment to save money.
