Hi All, Previous member of the old board ( are Walter & Sandy still around ). Also a long time Sailfish owner. Sold our 2006 2660 WAC twin/150's (bought in 2007) last May. Had 15 great years with her and over 1,600 fish filled hours of fun. Didn't need a boat w/cabin anymore, just picked up a new to us beautiful 270 cc w/twin 200's. Boat will be kept at our place in Hatteras NC. Wife and I mostly offshore fish ( tuna, dolphin, wahoo & occasional billfish) with some traditional bottom fishing and some deep dropping thrown in as well. Thanks

Hey Fritz, welcome to the new owners forum and good to see you again!
No unfortunately Sandy isn't around nor is Walter. Sandy sold his 266cc and disappeared, then Walter got out if selling Sailfish boats, bought his own dealership local to me and now sells Everglades and Blackfins. I see him on occasion at the local boat shows here in Annapolis and he's serviced my boat a few times. I seem to recall that Hooha made a surprise visit here a long time ago but hasn't been back since and Nino, well he's probably still a wife beater wearing GradyWet owner. Lol
There are some other old members here like Finatic and our resident Sailfish owners fishing tournament champion outtadblue Richard and a few others pop in from time to time.
I drive right by you every summer when I haul the boat down to Ocracoke in June. I'll have to keep an eye out for you at the Rock Pile.

Thanks for the welcome! Fishinfool, I can see the Hatteras ferry terminal from my balcony. We will be at our place the 1st week of May thru June 4th. We then head back and stay mid September to the 1st week of November. Always dock the boat at Teach's. Also have a Carolina Skiff 198 DLV at our place too, do quite a bit of redfish and trout fishing. Gotta have something to do when its blowing offshore, after all it is Hatteras! I remember Nino, some of those old posts really would crack you up!
Anybody can feel free to ask any questions you may have, I might be able to help out.

Welcome. I was on the old board for a while before this one started, but I waited for over a month to get access to the old one and was really glad when this one started up. Hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Welcome back! A lot of knowledge still on this site but not as much entertainment. Some of the old farts on the old site were pretty funny. I bought my boat in March of 2010 and joined the forum around that time.

Last be told that Sandy left us for an Onslow Bay several years back.

I remember Steve (the old forum site owner) bought a 27 Onslow after he sold the forum, back when they were still pretty new and I bet a lot cheaper! Not sure about Sandy?

We had been shopping even before we sold the 2660. Prices were just insane. I think we hit it pretty good balance on pricing, a little patience saved a bunch. Just amazed me what I sold the old 2660 for, glad we sold last May. I looked at a few different brands. We liked the Cobia 277 and almost pulled the trigger on a 27 Sea hunt. We also currently own a Sea Hunt 220 Triton that we use in Lake Erie for Walleye fishing. Hatteras can get pretty chunky pretty quick. I just knew the ride I was gonna get with Sailfish. Stick with what you know I guess. Gonna put a set of 4 blade props on her to get a little stern lift and get rid of the ventilation while high speed trolling for Wahoo. Should also help with hole shot and supposed to help with spray as well. Still rather get a little wet than knock my crowns loose. Really looking forward to it, always fun tinkering around on a new boat

I love how my hull performs in the waters off Ocracoke/Hatteras and in the sound when it gets choppy. The ride is so soft.

Always have loved the Sailfish ride. Cant wait to see the performance on the 270 cc w/200's vs my old 2660 WAC with the 150's. Fished the Rockpile more times than I can count. We usually head and start at the 230 Rocks and work up to the 280's or so. All depends on current and such. I'm a tuna guy at heart, that why we fish that area a lot. Got some great wrecks up that way as well. Special place for sure. will be there for 5 weeks starting 1st of May.

5 weeks in May, wow that should be some good fishing. By the time we get there the tuna are mostly gone, heading north, except for some occasional blackfin, and the gaffers are all but gone, leaving peanuts which have even been pretty sparce over the last couple of yrs, but the wahoo, and the white and sailfishing starts to get good.
I really don't bottom fish because if the weather decides to cooperate for us during the 2 weeks we are there and if i get that one or two days where we can get out, im looking for pelgics. I do stop at some of the reefs to play with AJs though on the jig. I think im going to try working in some bottom fishing more this year for triggers, which we love to eat and bsb, IF the winds ever lay down long enough. I picked up a few jigs that were recommended by some NC peeps for triggers.

Gotcha, there are some great deep spots behind the rockpile that have some great Blueline fishing and we pull some Snowy's from there as well. Started doing more of that kinda stuff the last few years. If the troll bite is off we switch it up, Somedays we hit the BSB, Trigger's and Beeliner's pretty good. Other times we deep drop for Tiles and Grouper. Will do some Reef Donkey's every now and again, but only want catch a couple and then your whooped. Always something fun to do. Also, we have left in the afternoon on nice weather days and you can get some good wahoo and blackfin bites after the fleet has headed home for the day.
