I'm looking to set up a NMEA network on my 2018 245DC with a mercury verado 300hp. I don't see anything under the cowl, there is a NMEA connector and drop cable behind the garmin but they are not hooked to anything. Does anyone know if the 2018 was wired from the motor to the helm for NMEA network?

I added a NMEA 2000 backbone and networked my 2 MFDs to my Fusion radio and a remote for it back on the swim platform, VHF (for AIS feeds) and Yamaha gauge electronics so that the MFDs could display and control it all. I was surprised that the boat didn't come with it all networked together already. I did have to buy the backbone with terminators and T connectors to add things. I have a write up with diagrams that I did which should be very helpful and would be happy to share it with you if you PM me with your email address.

my 2021 245DC with Merc 300hp had Nmea avialable and I have added several items, as Jerrk stated 2 MFD's, and also added radar and auto pilot. If you have Mercury vessel view, you would have NMEA

I added the Mercury Marine NMEA Gateway (https://www.mercruiserparts.com/mercury-mercruiser-8m0165589-gateway-can) to my Mercury 300. I just plugged it into an open gateway port under the console dash. On my smaller 40 HP Mercury, I use the VesselView Mobile BT version (~$225 on Amazon) and then use my phone.
I did purchase a VV403 that I am looking to install as I want a separate screen for the fuel and engine data instead of using my chartplotter. For both motors, it was super simple plug and play. I can take a picture this week if you need me too.

It turned out great, Thank you! The gateway was $570.00 from Partscu.com but it hooked right up under the helm and the rest was easy. I still need to set some of the limits such as gas tank capacities but all seem to work great
