Crappy weather here today, cloudy and drizzling. I decided to take the boat to a nearby beach so I could hop in the water and clean the brown water stain along the waterline from the white bottom paint - just part of the sacrifice when going white in our brown water bay.
Anyway, took the boat for a little spin out into the bay to stretch her legs. The winds kicked up and as I was heading back I went to apply some trim tab to port and nothing!
The led lights didn't light up and no reaction from the boat. Starboard trim indicator and tab works fine. I had replaced my port tab actuator 7yrs ago or so, starboard tab is original.
Got back to the dock and stuck my head into that mess of electric cables behind my dash. I unplugged the switch, which seemed to have some crud at the plug that I cleaned off. Plugged it back in and went to test it, nothing, BUT on the 2nd try it worked!
Now I'm not sure if it was cleaning and reattaching the plug that did it or something else. But the tab sounded funny. It was loud, louder than the other tab. I did cycle it up and down a couple of times and confirmed it was in fact moving but I'm not confident it's not about to shit the bed based on how it sounds.
I went ahead and ordered another actuator just to have on-hand because I figured it's probably not long for this world anyway.
I remember having a hell of a time getting the Lenco supplied Deutch connectors put together and connected to get power to the starboard tab I replaced years ago.
It's always something...
