Well my 05 f225 dropped a valve a few months back and got a date for a new suzuki df250 to get installed. Anyone done this yet and have info on prop/mounting location. My old engine also had transom wedge and after removing them they need to get replaced. Just wondering if they were ever really needed or not.
Also after removing my old engine as my transom support bracket had some growing corrosion on the back and has dippled the glass where the bolts are. Wondering if I should try and fix this or run as is.
Not sure how to add photos to the new site

What does your dealer recommend for mounting height? Presumably it be similar to your outgoing Yammy assuming you were happy with performance.
That DF250 will be a torque monster compared to the F225.
Someone must have installed wedges to try and mitigate cavitation.
Personally if it were my boat, I'd fill those holes leave the wedges off and get a Merc Rev 4 prop. Get it lobbed to add more cup. The Rev 4 is an awesome prop. It's fast tons of bite and stern lift. The cup will help with both stern lift and bite.
Keep in mind if going with a 4 blade like a Rev 4, you may want to consider mounting your engine a hole higher than you would with a 3 blade. Then find a dealer that will let you try different pitch props until you find the one that gives you best performance/RPMs.

Appreciate the info and the second opinion, going to have the holes worked before new engine is installed.

Well, We got the boat back with the new engine. Have yet to sea trial and break the new engine in. Hoping they propped the thing right, time will tell. Water test mechanic mentioned getting it to 6100. 90 gals onboard and two people. Said it rode bow proud but weather was crummy and they didn't have it out long. It will be next week before I can give my opinion, however here is how the new engine looks. Next project is moving batteries to the center compartment.

Looks awesome, congrats.
If that prop is a bow lifting prop (some are) you can fix that with Rev 4 - don't rule it out if your not happy with how the hull rides. Your dealer should be accommodating and let your try other props until your happy.
Looking forward to hearing how you like the DF250 vs the F225.

DivingJunkie - I have the same setup and I struggle to get good performance out of it (38 mph top end @ 5850rpm). What are you seeing for performance and what size prop are you swinging?
Thanks

I haven't been on these forums in a while so sorry for the late response. They put a suzuki 3X16X18.5 prop on it. Top speed has been 44 mph @ 6000RPM trimed up slightly. Overall I haven't noticed much difference over the yamaha 225 other than a lower RPM at Cruise 28-31 at 4400 RPM. Half to 3/4 full tank.
