Took delivery in april and initial impressions great. Focus for me is midshore trips for tuna/etc. While water warms up, have done a few trips for sea bass and fluke and each time my ice melts in both aft fish boxes. I mean turns to water in several hours. First told to insure my ice is cold enough which it is. Sailfish now telling me to insure I'm filling these boxes with more ice so there is less air in box. Anyone else have this issue? I need ice to last full 8 -9 hours Any input/ thoughts comments welcome.

I can't speak to your fish boxes but I wish I had them. How many pounds are you putting in each? What SF is saying is true, best performance comes from good hard (not wet) ice and lots of it esp if your in FL or somewhere it's hot. It helps to add some ice the night before to cool the boxes down esp if temps are high then add lots of fresh ice the morning of. Make it a saltwater slurry. Maybe Richard or one of the 2860/290 guys with aft fish boxes will chime in with what they do.

The fish box on the 245 DC melts ice like it was on the stove. Luckily I have a seat 'ice chest' and it and the forward boxes hold ice well. I put ice in the fish box to cool it down and more in the passenger seat cooler and the forward boxes. Once we bring something on board I flush the fish box and get 'new' ice from the passenger or forward boxes to ice the fish. It's not optimal, but doing it this way I get to shore with 'iced' fish.
Wish there was a better way, but I can't get good access to the fish box to insulate it better. Moving ice around seems like the best solution.

Thanks hooked up. Helpful tips. Why they can't address this I can't understand. Few photos ...

Looks slick. Like the dash layout and look. Does the gloss black create any problems with reflections?

Welcome aboard, can't help with your ice problem but I'm right down the road is Seaside Park, if you want to have a beer one night at Bum roger's, we could discuss it at length!

Glare no issue. Think because these charplotters are so well back lit these days. Even in full sunshine. Best riding boat I've ever owned.

Literally down the street. Sounds good. Have you been getting into any of the sea bass run? It's been amazing. Season closing next weekend I believe.

Oooo Oooo oooo I saw something I wish I had on my Sailfish! You got a winshield washer!!! Man that would be nice after a bunch of salt spray. I usually do a mid-trip freshwater washdow just to see better. Something else that I need to add....it never stops! š But I can get the Admiral to approve it as a safety item because the Captain does need to see!

Called Aaron and he shipped me the parts, sent me pictures so I could understand how to set it up. Took about 1/2 day to install it. I put the switch he sent down by the anchor switch and it was 2 switches (port and starboard). I used the port switch for autopilot so it didn't go to waste. Wiper is a must have for us when out on those 'small craft warning' days it will take some spray.

Richard, do tell more! Photos, cost to get the parts, and where did you put the pump and reservoir? This is definitely something that should be in this forum as a DIY upgrade!

Jerry, when I installed it there was no reservoir, just a simple windshield wiper. That was all that Sailfish had back in 2018.

I saw two switches in the dash photo...a wiper Hi/Lo for the wiper and to the right of it is a wiper washer switch which I assume is like a car washer fluid pump and reservoir to provide a clearing rinse. I HAVE a wiper but would love a washer.
