With a forecasted sea conditions report that I rarely see this time of year in NC and a weather report that also seemed favorable, I geared up the boat last night for an early morning departure out to the stream. But when I woke up and after I got ready, I checked the radar and there is this slow moving front offshore with scattered pop up storms. No bueno. I'm sitting here waiting to see if it improves. With my family on board I didn't want to be worried about trying dodge these unpredictable pop up storms.

Welcome to my world of weather forecasts. Go to bed it's 75% chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Get up it's 15%. A few hours later it's raining and they've changed the forecast back to 75%. Maybe AI will come to our aid one day and the 24 hour forecast will be accurate. Unless it's an evil AI and it's as accurate as what we have now.

Despite the pop up storms inland, decided to go out inshore. Found a weed line insight of the beach with mahi but they had lock jaw My son hooked into one with a jig, lost it, they wouldn't touch cut bait. We moved out to an AR, had some hook ups and bite off but the fish were jig shy, think they've been pounded over last few days. Decided to troll east a couple of miles where I hooked up last year and my 19 yr old got all he could handle with this Bonita. Hooked up again 15 min later and my other older son got some pullage. We found some chopper blues right where I left them Chewing last year the day before. Fun on 3k series spinning reels. May try offshore tomorrow.

Fat alberts on lite tackle are always a fun time. Hope you enjoy your trip! We are at our place in Hatteras now as well. We will be here thru August 9th or 10th. Boats in its slip at Teach's, if you decide to slide off your little slice of heaven and take a ferry ride stop by and say hello. Good luck!

Will do, always wanted to ride in the boat over to Hatteras. That bigger fish whopped my big working out boys ass! Lol The chopper blues on 2500/3k series reels were no slouched, these m'frs are straightening ss J hooks.
We are planning to head out to the rock pile tomorrow if you're going out. What stations do the charter fleet tune into? 72?

We are probably gonna head that way tomorrow as well, Mama wants to do a little bottom fishing but will probably troll for a couple hours 1st thing. Charters run on channel 1. Hope to leave dock at 5:30 or so. Already all iced up and have dozen and half ballyhoo all brined up and ready to go. Today was tough for us. Started at the 230 rocks and work my way up to 350 rocks. One wahoo bite off and two other knock downs (zing and gone). They did get some nice wahoo today along with some blackfins and schoolie peanuts. Everybody was way south of us.
