Just did 300 hour on my merc 300hp. All went well, was pleased not one sign of corrosion within the cooling system. I flush the engine if I run it for 5 minutes. I’m 90% saltwater use. The second of my factory underwater lights failed, the first failed within a few months of owning the boat and was under warranty and sailfish mailed a new one to me.
I’m forever working on the trailer brakes.

I had one underwater light go bad, called Sailfish and got the part number. Assuming it the same as mine, 2018 245 DC, you need a Scandvik 41431P U-12 (12 indicates blue if I recall correctly). I got one shipped from boatandrvaccesories.com for $26 bucks. I just looked on their website and don't see it anymore.....
Have not installed yet because it turned out to be more of a project than I expected and have been away from the boat. The hole the wire goes through the transom seems to hit the corner of a stringer and they must have used 5200 to seal it. I'm thinking I need to drill through the existing hole and fish tape through from the bilge to pull the wire into the bilge. I might need to enlist the help of someone built like Manute Bol to reach through the tiny hatch and be able to get to the transom.
Let me know if you find any easier way to access the wire.

the first one I had to redrill and pull as it it was to well sealed I just drilled a whole new hole, as the orginal location was hard to reach as you note. Once I commited to a new hole and better angle it was easy. The second one- I have'nt finished yet- looks like I can pull on old wires. I also purchased a different light from amazon, so now they dont match in size, at least until the 1st one fails again.
I have found that removing the hatch entierly gives me a helpful amount of more room.

I have found that removing the hatch entierly gives me a helpful amount of more room. That was one of my first thoughts when I saw what I was dealing with and turned my "this outta take half an hour" into, this is gonna take half a day.... and back burnered it. I keep the boat on a trailer so I just re-installed the old light to keep water out of the bilge or at least to a trickle until I get to fix it for real.
