1 hr 15 minutes of trouble shooting in 4 sentences: Out not catching Tuna – no raw water wash down Back at yard, check and find no horn or over head lights either Horn has bad connection – fixed- which throws me off the trail Find buried connection apart.

Hmmm maybe whoever plugged the connection didn't press it together tight enough for the clips to catch?

Good troubleshooting Dave!
It sure would be helpful to have a full schematic (and a map to show what wires exist where within the boat )for our boat wiring, but I doubt that even exists, plus there are so many variables for the electronics added by people that at best it would only cover the basic boat items, but even if thats ALL it covered it would be helpful in many cases. There should be something that at least covers the items included as standard on every boat model.

It seems many boats are designed form the hull in. I would start my design from the helm/console out. leavin plenty of room for wiring, access and upgrades.

I was with the computer team that took the Navy from paper documentation for ships to computerized documentation. If boat builders had something like that we'd have complete wiring diagrams and parts diagrams, etc.
Somehow computer technology seems to have skipped most boat builders, or they're keeping it a secret.

I'm hoping Sailfish has put some effort into fixing it going forward. They told me they would in 2021. The next boat show I attend, I will be poking around the wiring. When wiring is a scramble its complicated. If it was done as mentioned by hookedup and Jerryk, its much easier for trouble shooting, repair and upgrades.
besides a diagram, with all connectors shown, they (boat builders) need to provide room and panel to discretly pin all incoming wires to. I have seen some rewire jobs that are works of art.

I looked at the wiring on a 272CC at the Miami Boat show in 2020, and it looked very well organized. I even commented to the sales guy that it was about time that they improved the wiring. I walked on a 2022 272CC from a guy that I met at the sand bar in the FL keys this past month, and his wiring looked like the picture in the OP. So the boat show boats are just for show!

I think I lucked out. The wiring on my 2012 is pretty straight forward and neat. I am the second owner, don't know if the first did something with it.

For $250k+ for a 26/27' cc it better look better!

I haven't checked mine, but I've heard about the wiring issue. I do get a lot of satisfaction at looking at pics of clean wiring. It makes me want to get mine upgraded. I won't, but it would make me happy.

I was curious, so I had a peak at the wiring. This is a 2022 245DC. (sorry, these pics are rotated/upside down. if you click on them, they straighten out.) The box looks ok:
Under the helm is where it gets jumbled:

That looks pretty good.
If I posted a pic of my wiring it would give you a migraine.
