I'm trying to get an estimate on average weight of a 290. Kicking the thought and wondering if my F 150 with a 5.0 Motor could trailer the rig. Maybe some real fuel burn numbers from our 290 owners with twin Yamaha 300's.

10,000 pounds loaded. Should see around 2.0 mpg cruising in mid 30’s with medium load. I trailered mine with half ton truck once and it sucked. Does ok launching at marina but going any distance on the road was not good. Real bad fuel economy and stopping was not easy. Go slow and give yourself plenty of time to stop.

Like outtablue said, its the stopping part that can be a problem. Short distance trailering with maybe putting a Timbren suspension kit ( had them on 2 trucks, they are great) on would be ok. Towing any distance would be a no for me. Forgot link to Timbren, They are fantastic for all towing, easy to install and reasonably priced: timbren.com/products/fr1504e-ford-f-150-2015-2023-rear-kit

Maybe some real fuel burn numbers from our 290 owners with twin Yamaha 300's. I just started towing my 2860 full time this year, on the scale with not much fuel it was around 9400...so easy 10K fueled up. 99% of my towing is in town under 5 miles, so I do it with my f150. It's a pretty pedestrian truck (2wd with e locker, 5.0, 3.31 gears, standard tow package) and its fine towing around town. No issues at my ramps, but they're all pretty nice. My truck already had airbags from hauling my son's sxs and they stiffen things up a but...I also changed the rear shocks to Rancho adjustables and setting them stiff helps the rear end bounce a lot. I've taken one long distance trip and it was ok, but definitely not great; you really feel the semi's flying by at 80. I'm going to try a WDH hitch in the future to see how it does for longer tows. I have EOH brakes on both axles so that helps. For sure a 3/4 ton would be a better tow vehicle, but my truck's a daily driver so the half ton gets the job done for the majority of my use.
