Just got a quote yesterday to take down 3 dead trees - two white oak and a hickory. $7k! And there's another another gigantic dead oak deeper in the woods, plus like 4 or 5 large dead hollies. We had monsoon 5 or 6 yrs ago and the torrential rains/flooding killed off a bunch of trees around here. These two big oaks struggles ever since but finally shit the bed. One the year before last and the other followed this year.

tree cutting got expensive quite a few years ago. We have the Ash borer by me and a good 30% of my trees are dead. I stopped cutting my own trees because of the danger of dead trees. I'm fortunate I own some heavy equipment and hire a local experienced logger and we cut and push them down. Though it’s better to hire the local experts and pay the money. Tree cutting is very dangerous- my son got a helicopter ride and metal rods about 10 years ago from helping someone cut trees down.

Been years since I've had any trees taken down and it wasn't cheap then. I'll take down small ones myself, but those ain't small nor cheap to remove. It does sound like the price has gone up quite a bit.

We lived in a heavily wooded area about 6 years ago. We had to cut down a lot of dead trees, and it barely made a dent. We loved them at first, but our new house, aside from firs, has 2 trees.

It's the way I feel! I've spent thousands on taking down big dead trees and it seems every time I turn around there is another that needs taken down. Love living in a neighborhood with mature trees but man oh man it comes at a cost. Neighbor behind me (through the woods) his adult son was killed while visiting with his family when a tree fell on the house during a storm. His wife and daughter were trapped. So while they're nice to look at they require attention.

I only see fire wood oak firewood. All that's needed is a sling shot fishing line which I know you've got plenty. Shoot the line to a croch in the tree pull a rope through and tie off to another tree and go at it. Free firewood and an extra 7k in your pocket to spend on your boat.
