Just for fun...The helm seat on my DC is nice. But, I never sit, I just put up the bolster and lean against it. What do you do?

95% of the time I sit. The only stand time is if I'm in a no wake and there is no wind moving and it's too hot...then I'll stand and even move to the center to get some airflow. My knees are starting to get arthritis and standing for long periods kills me. I'd rather save the standing time for when I'm holding a pole.

The one thing on the 245DC that bothers me about the helm seat are the rough edges against the back of my legs when the bolster is flipped up. Seems the adjustment arms and tabs for the seat positioning are too forward.

I find the space to be pretty perfect. Close enough that I can use it as a leaning post, far enough that I'm not too cramped. The only issue with standing is that the trim tab switches are a bit out of reach without leaning over. I wish they were mounted a bit higher.

I lowered the seat and put the bolster up and sit on that. Just enough room to sit for awhile, then stand awhile. When trolling alone it leaves enough room to get up quickly and get to the rod. Couldn't seem to find the right adjustment that worked with the seat fully extended.

Fan just behind her head and you can also see how I have the seat set up.

When running in the dark or looking for life, standing. Long open water runs sitting on full seat. All other times on the bolster

Stand when I can, sit on the bolster setting of the chair if necessary. One thing I noticed when standing is that the windshield top rail is literally a few inches away from my head, it would not be a good thing to hit! I prefer to drive with one hand on the windshield rail and one on the wheel, (wearing my kill switch tether of course, a hand on the throttle isn’t usually necessary while at cruise.) Another observation of while standing is the hardtop could have been an extra foot longer in front for captain protection from the elements. I sometimes consider installing a heavy duty sun visor for those cruises into the sun, this company seems to have a good product: www.rosenvisor.com/store/c60/Marine.html

Boatfly, I installed a Fell Marine MOB to replace the standard kill switch. I wear it like a watch and it works good in my testing. I have to replace the battery on the sensor every year to keep it from inadvertently cutting off the engine, but otherwise it just works. A couple of people have also installed the ACR version and they report good results too. Much easier to deal with than the tether and you can even get additional sensors to put on passengers if needed.
