Getting proposals for an inground concrete pool w/WetEdge plaster. Nothing big or fancy +/- 15x28'. I was a little shell shocked by the cost, figured for such a small pool with really no features other than heat and 2 jets it was going to be less.
Anone here go through a pool installation and care to share insights?

We have a pool. It was there when we moved in, but we’ve replaced pretty much everything over the years. It is a saltwater pool. We like the salt pools. They are worth looking into. The kids still use it. I was in it once or twice this season. I used it every weekend before we got a boat.

We would definitely go the saltwater route.

Consider both heat and cooling depending on your location. July/Aug bathwater temps are not very refreshing!

Consider both heat and cooling depending on your location. July/Aug bathwater temps are not very refreshing! Since we're in the mid Atlantic (MD) we are leaning toward just heat to extend the pool season. We also have some shade around here so I think water temps will be okay least 90% of the time. If we were in the SE I'd definitely think more strongly about the chiller.

IMO bad investment. But I did put in a 24' round above ground pool. Works fine for the hot days when we can't use our boat.

Yes but so is a boat, actually a boat is worse. The return I'm looking for isnt financial, it's the enjoyment my family will get out of it and the memories.
Personally I'm not a big pool person but my wife is and she luvs the idea, which never happens and I know my kids will too. So we will see, lots to consider...

Yes I know, I know, I had to go nuclear to make a point. The irony of being on a boating forum talking about luxury purchases in the context of an investment is not lost on me. Break out another thousand, or ten! Glen will probably ban me now. Lmao We're not going crazy with size and stuff, heck you can't even buy a new 23' Sailfish for what we're looking at cost wise, heck a loaded Ford F250 is more so in that context it doesn't seem to unreasonable. We have friends that spent somewhere in the $250k range for their pool, that to me doesn't make sense from an return on memories investment point.

The kids were in the pool all day and night yesterday. They both had a group of friends over. A good volley ball net and a few beach balls are a must. We've had epic matches that can last hours. Volleyballs are too hard...beach balls make for a better time. The pool makes our house the house that the kids hang at. It's nice to be able to keep an eye on everyone and see who they are hanging out with. Fortunately, they both have great and respectful friends.
Are you all set with hardscaping, patio furniture, speakers, lighting, etc? Those can eat up at the budget.

Good ideas.
I have some preliminary numbers on the patio/hardscaping, meeting with fence guys later this week. After that I should have a better handle on where our all-in cost will be.

By the way, there is a boat in my lagoon named "She Wanted a Pool."

I'm curious, what is the range your seeing for a basic pool that size? My wife hit me with, maybe we should get a pool the other day.....
