Not sure if I'm putting this in the proper forum, mods feel free to relocate it. What gloves do you guys like and/or hate for fishing? I have been using these rapala's, I like them because they are thin enough that you don't feel like you're wearing a heavy glove and can still "feel" things pretty well, I hate them because after a short time the rubber coating turns to mush and gets very sticky and stuck to everything. I'm looking for something thin like these, but will last longer and not make a huge mess. Thanks!! www.westmarine.com/rapala-rapala-fishing-gloves-large-17987421.html?msclkid=45741caae21b195cd49079b1db68b86f

Too cold? You must live too far north! I wear them as protection from fish spines, etc.

I’m an Aftco pro staff member so I use their products. Very well made. I don’t wear them unless I’m wiring a billfish or handling a swordfish.

I've used gloves when fishing in the winter (back when we had lots of Striper). I like the Sougayilang 3 Low-cut Fingers Skidproof Fishing Glove. Tried several others, but this one was pretty good. I still use them when out in winter and I foolishly try to catch striper.

for what I need fingerless would defeat the purpose, appreciate the input though, thanks. I put mine on when a fish is coming up (I’m usually boat driver and gaff man) and while bottom fishing. They are pretty thick in the palms allowing wraps if you are comfortable with that, and empty coverage to block the careless spine stick, while allowing enough dexterity to do all the other stuff. I do take them off if I have to start tying knots. I swear it’s the gloves not the lack of glasses… 😳

GLOVES!? GLOVES!? We don’t need no stinking gloves! But if I could have gone back in time, before I picked a live shrimp out of the livewell, its tail flicked me on the bare knuckle, drew blood, and I rinsed off the little blood in the creek…I would have paid thousands of dollars for a pair of gloves that would have prevented this. The next day: 103 degree fever, lymph glands the size of golf balls, red streaks from my hand up to my armpit, every part of my hand and forearm feeling like it was on fire for about 5 days, IV of antibiotics, multiple nauseating oral antibiotics simultaneously for 6 weeks, X-rays, MRI, multiple specialist doctors, 2 weeks of missed work. Fortunately I didn’t lose my finger or worse. Choose wisely, or not.

I had something happen to me a few years ago. I got jabb fron a dorsal fin. I went through 3 surgeries for the medical team to determine exactly what type of bacteria was in my hand. The disease is called fish handlers disease. More common around commercial fishing ports. I was on 3000 MG of antibiotics for 9 months to kill the bacteria. Like yourself I was very lucky to still have my hand. When the bacteria finally began to be killed off the doctor's had said to me they thought for sure I would lose the hand. Scary stuff. I'm very happy your treatment worked for you. Both you and I will never handle a fish the like in the past.
