Hi:
New Member here although I've owned my boat for 5 or 6 years now. I have a 2006 2660CC. Love the Boat. It lives half the year on Cape Cod (Hyannis) and Half the Year in Jupiter Florida. I bought the boat in Jupiter from a friend and have had a Marina care for it up until this year. I've recently started to do all my own maintenance because of really shoddy quality here on the Cape that has cost me some significant $$ and I now have trust issues. I've owned boats all my life so am fairly accustomed to working on them and fairly handy and of course, I bought all the maintenance books for the Yamaha F150's that hang off the back. I'm sure I'll be utilizing this forum quite a bit. The boat doesn't seem too complex and as I learn more and more I believe that my confidence in mankind (this man) will rebound. :-). Nice to meet all of you virtually. Dave Johnson

Hay Dave, welcome aboard. Definitely the right place to ask for help as you take on projects. Almost any DIY project someone here has done and willing to help. These 150s are very friendly to do your routine maintenance.

Welcome Dave. We have at least one other member from Cape.
I hear ya on quality control and trust issues. For the most I do all of my own maintenance too and and as Finatic said these motors aren't too bad to work on and fortunately they don't have a lot of issues either.

Welcome Dave, and yes this is a great place to get ideas and hints on doing your own maintenance. Good group of people on this site and if you ask, you'll get an answer. Please also share your knowledge with others by posting here.

Welcome to the forum. A few years back I moved from a marina that wouldn't allow any maintenance except in their shop. Fully agree about shoddy maintenance and I moved to a marina that allowed me to do my own.

Welcome to the forum, doing your own maintenance is really beneficial to owning a boat, really gives you great insight into how systems work, when there's an emergency and you're troubleshooting, that familiarity is irreplaceable. Like many have said, there's a ton of knowledge and info on this board, and almost everything has been tackled, and when someone comes up with a problem that's not been seen and cured before, well it's like blood in the water for sharks with people tossing out thoughts and ideas and waiting to hear what the solution is.
