For those of you that have 36v lithium batteries running your trolling motor, whose battery do you have? Do you have an ‘on the run’ charger as well and which one?
Was initially looking at NextGen lithium and their stealth charger. Company has horrible reviews. Now looking at Monster Marine quantum charger, and either their battery or a Dakota.

Whatever you get make sure they are LifPo 4.

Not sure how they are in a marine environment but I’ve been very happy with the allied lithium battery on my golf cart.

Decided on Monster Marine. Ordered their quantum on the go charger and a terminal black yesterday. Guessing I can’t make their 6.5’ wire reach the 9’ I need! So I’ll mount it in the battery compartment, run it up to the forward in floor box, and have the block there. When I order the rest of my wiring I’ll just need a couple more short battery cables.
Battery comes with a 5 year warranty, shipping on the charger was free, same with battery, so I figured no reason to start warranty early. Really need to launch boat and decide on trolling motor length. Buying in bits and pieces has kept the Admiral quiet….

Always good to fly under the radar when the Admiral is watching the budget! Half the fun of the project is figuring out how you are going to get what you want to end up with since nothing, NOTHING, is easy on a boat! Sounds like you have a good plan going!

Always good to fly under the radar when the Admiral is watching the budget! Half the fun of the project is figuring out how you are going to get what you want to end up with since nothing, NOTHING, is easy on a boat! Sounds like you have a good plan going! It will go well until she notices the motor on the bow. If like the Admiral it will then be an in depth discussion followed by me falling on my sword and asking what I can buy her to make up for this serious indiscretion.
Whenever I buy anything over a couple of hundred, I assume the cost will be doubled or tripled. I have found if I buy her stuff first it's a bit easier. She now has several rods and reels I've bought her that she's never used and they're much better than mine...and she lets me use her rods occasionally.
I did get her to agree to me going to the boat show next weekend, but only if I promise not to bring up getting another boat. I agreed to that right away, as I really like the current boat. However, there was no agreement about additional features.

Started installing the on the go charger today. Plan A, mounting in the battery compartment, won’t work. There are 2 fuses on the charger and 1 inline to the lithium battery. Burying the unit probably not a good idea. Needed a new plan. Plan B was to mount on the little shelf on the console, cut a hole down through there to run wires, but then…. Plan C!
Plan C is mount on forward wall of console, low behind head. Run cranking battery wires through water inlet hose pipe opening and back to batteries. Done, easy. Wires to lithium, remove hose from head going to holding tank (yuck but what are you going to do?) pull wire and inline fuse through, replace hose. Couldn’t get hose off head.
Plan D, use same hole as other wires and fish into forward floor box. Hours of trying, both directions, and from speaker hole, and fuel vent inspection plate, nothing. Not sure what’s in the way. Bores nope sure would be handy. Ran out of daylight.
Tomorrow I think I’m back to plan C. With a heat gun this time!

That was no fun. Also got pull strings run for the rest of the wiring.

I installed a 36v "Lossigy" on my 2660 with an 84" Rhodan - have fished multiple days in a row without charging. Multiple days with strong current / winds and have yet to get below 52% so I personally don't see the need for a charge on the go. Honestly shocked how long this thing lasts. I have a 30Amp shore charger that brings it back up to 100% in a couple of hours.

My hope is to never need to plug into shore power. I generally charge my cranking batteries only if they’ve been sitting a long time without use. It will be interesting to see how it works out.
