Hi All,
I’m in Western Australia. I have put an offer on a 2012 2380 Walkaround with Yamaha 300 4 stroke which has been accepted subject to inspection and water test. Seas where I live are 2 to 5m swell and wind 5 to 35 knots. I don’t go out above 15 knots. Swell doesn’t matter. My town is known as the windsurfing capital of Australia. Very windy. I generally fish between 20km and 70km offshore.
My previous boat was a 2006 24 McKeeCraft Freedom centre console with two 175 Zukes. Had that 5 years but sick of getting wet. Awesome boat otherwise. Before I bought that I was looking at Contenders, McKees and Sailfish. Not many of any of these in Australia.
ok, back to the 2380.
What should I really be paying attention to for the inspection?
What should I be paying attention to during the water test? No planing strakes - what speed should it plane at?
Electricals - no need to tell me about electrical. My McKee electrics were a work of art. The Sailfish - wow, really bad. Not all Sailfish, whomever installed the screens and the transducer did a terrible job. I’ll be redoing most of that.
Are the hulls foam filled?
Clears - need replacing. Anywhere in the USA sell factory clears for the 2380?
Cover - no cover. Can anyone recommend an off the shelf cover that fits well and is transportable. I won’t tow with the cover, but it’s very windy where I live. Everything in Australia is expensive - I routinely bought parts for my McKee and the Zukes from USA. I’ll do the same with the Sailfish.
Hull has a crack where the PM265 is pocket mounted. No issues, I’ll fix that myself.
The trailer is a load rite elite rated to 4.2 tonnes (9300 pounds). Looks good. Anything to look out for on these?
The Yamaha has 680 hours. From a bit of reading I’ll likely replace the filters and get the injectors cleaned. Anything else to look out for on these.
Cheers,
Grant
